Such a disappointment. Came here with a party of 7, and once seated the first round of service with our drinks was great and the cocktails were fabulous. Then once our order was taken, we were all very excited to get our food, and that's when things took a turn. After quite a long wait (no problem because the place was busy) the food started to come out. All of our party except one received their breakfast. The food was honestly nothing special, it was not bad, it was just not as nice as you would have expected. The English muffin on my eggs Benedict had zero crisp to it and was just soggy. My gf had the Papas Pastores which could have been great, however it was just full of liquid making it a soggy mess too, and it could have been prepared so much better. After our food order came, our server pretty much ghosted us the remainder of our time there. After roughly 25 min we had to grab the server to say that one of our party did not receive his order of biscuits & gravy. She then said, "Oh yeah, they ran out of biscuits, and no one told me, and we typically substitute English muffins when that happens. First of all she said no one told her, yet in the same breath she knew? Secondly, why the heck did we have to find her to get that information? What did she not let us know the second she found out there was a problem? Even though it seemed unorthodox, the member of our party decided, okay, I'll take that. One would assume then, the order would come out relatively quickly, because after all, we are just talking about subbing in an English muffin. After about another 15 min, our party had all but finished their meals, we had no more drinks, continued to be ghosted by the server, we again had to track her down, and she said, "Oh, you didn't get your food yet?" She went to the kitchen and came out with the saddest plate you've ever seen. He ate the meal, because he was hungry, and we had been waiting for so long, but really didn't enjoy it. Then when the checks came, you would anticipate that any restaurant worth a damn would not charge for that meal. Well, it was on the bill, and when asked the server said, "I'll have to go ask the manager if I can take it off." When she came back, she had the audacity to say, "the difference between the biscuits and the muffin was only $1", so she took off $1. That was it, we were all very patient and reasonable, but that was it. I asked to please see the manager right away. The manager came out and we all had a good conversation about the lack of attention during the service and the issues with the food. She of course made apologies and let us know she would address the server and that that was unacceptable. She also took the feedback regarding the Papas to say that she would address that with the kitchen. Another nugget she shared with us was that they ran out of biscuits way before, and we should have been informed that immediately after the order was placed. She made some adjustments to the bills, taking off the Muffins and Gravy, and the Papas, and while we were appreciative of this, the dissatisfaction and disappointment it left us made us not want to ever grace this establishment again. I'm sure I'm forgetting some details still, but I'm tired of writing, and think I've expressed most that I wanted to convey. Thank you to the manager for attempting to mitigate the failures, and I hope beyond anything that this experience is used to teach your staff to be more attentive, and how to provide actual customer service, so that patrons leave with not only great food, but a great experience, because this...
Read moreOur group of 4 from Seattle came to Wala Wala for some great wine. This long weekend had us experience the best and the worst. Let me share our experience with this establishment – hoping to provide constructive criticism for the restaurant and provide insight to travelers who must go here. (Hint, you don’t have to. Check out “Maple Counter”.) First we walked around town and saw a big line outside Bacon and Eggs. Seems like a popular restaurant. Google reviews aren’t bad, Yelp either – so we decided to try this place the next morning. Called in for a reservation, 11 am is all they have; ok no problem. We showed up at 10:45 am, tried to check in with the “hostess”.. and no hostess. I’m going to assume maybe they were under-staffed that day. But really though, if the restaurant has no infrastructure nor the staff to properly manage reservations, don’t have one. Save everyone some time. We reported in to a waitress, waited for 15 minutes; got seated at 11:15. No wait staff came over until 11:45. So already, 45 min spent from the time of our reservation and we have just now spoken to a human. Bad initial impression. Menu looks great. I had an omelet (worse one I’ve had in many years – ingredients unseasoned, looks and tastes like steamed vegetables), wife ordered the grits (came in large cheesy clumps, worse grits ever had) and Huevos Rancheros (decent), friends ordered Mexican eggs (good), Migas (good). So, 50% fail. Looking back, maybe it’s my fault for ordering something that CAN be screwed up. But how do you screw up grits? Either way, if you must go there, get maybe the crabcake benedict (or something else not omelet or grits). The wait staff was fine when our waitress finally got to us. Again, YMMV. Good luck. (And do check out Maple Counter – for similar price, food and management...
Read moreWe went here on a Weds morning, sat down and there were numerous tables still available. We ordered the Migas with a side of toast and a plate of 2 eggs over easy with a English muffin. 10 mins later a couple sat down at the table next to us. Another 10 passed and their omelet, burrito and a stack of pancakes was delivered. Not a big deal as sometimes the cooks are separating orders and theirs arrived before ours. Another 5 or so mins went by and our order came. My over easy eggs were murdered and I asked to have them over easy, I hadn't notice my muffin was also cold. My wife's toast was literally black. When we got our server's attention (no an easy task) and asked for her toast to be replaced, she grabbed the plate turned around and never said; sorry this happened or we'll have this up shortly. I didn't bother to have a hot english muffin brought since we'd already spent 30 minute before getting our food. Once the toast arrived, my wife started eating and found the veggies in the Migas to be raw and by now, the food had cooled down considerably. We've been to this restaurant when it was in a house off the main part of Walla Walla. It was good then. Not sure if the bigger space is an issue or if the servers are stressed due to being directly in town with more exposure, or perhaps there's no management supervision??? They didn't seem to have any concept of customer service; no one asked how the food was or apologized for the wait or the inferior food they sent out. Why would a server bring out black toast or hard eggs?? Not sure we're willing to give it another go since after all, it's breakfast and over easy eggs should be pretty easy to make even if the place was slammed which it wasn't when...
