Been going to Genova’s since the 90’s albeit it was always the Oakland location. Freshest and tastiest ingredients ever. Just really outstanding sandwiches from the bread, to the meat and cheese, to the condiments. However, all the excellence exuded from the Oakland location is missing at this Walnut Creek location. The preparer did not prepare my sandwich as I’d asked her to even though it appeared she was writing down my instructions🤔🤔🤔 For a $12.00+ turkey n cheddar I don’t expect any errors. Also, the onions weren’t fresh and tasted really old. The cheese was hardened as if it had been sitting out for a while and once again the preparer didn’t follow my instructions even though I was 3 feet away from her when I was giving them. This is my second experience with this Genovas location and I can say with out a doubt Togo’s is probably just as good. I hate to blaspheme the Oakland location but since it’s no longer there and has been relocated n replaced by a less than adequate substitute, SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, and TASTE BUDS. You want an outstanding sandwich and you’re in the area Calabria Bros in SF on Mission is hitting for #1 sandwich deli outside of NYC. At least this New...
Read moreGood place to get an old school Italian deli sandwich and comfort food. At the deli counter, you can also get cold salads, desserts, marinated mushrooms and olives, and hot food (ravioli, lasagna, chicken, soup). They have a cold case selling a variety of drinks including beer. If that’s not enough, they sell a selection of imported grocery items… dry pastas, wines, cookies, candy, jarred olives and a bunch more.
Right when you step into this joint, pull a number, and get in line at the deli. They might not be using the number system if it’s not busy, so no harm in pulling a number. The sandwich menu is hanging above the counter on the far right.
You get to pick your choice of bread. Ohh the bread is bakery quality, gorgeous, and delicious. Dutch Crust and Sweet French Roll are my bread faves. They carry Molinari and Columbus deli meats. Yum.
There is no indoor seating, but they do have an outdoor seating area.
Another thing to note is that they Door Dash, and take text orders and old...
Read moreAs a vegetarian walking into an Italian delicatessen, I was worried I would be limited on selections.
This place does NOT disappoint! The friendly lady behind the counter, I wish I got her name but she had gauges and a great smile, suggested some options for me.
I ordered the artichoke torta (it looks like a patty in a way, but is made from vegetables and artichokes) on a Dutch crunch roll sandwich. The patty has a symphonatic blend of spices which will entertain your taste buds. Paired with the horseradish cheese -- viola! A masterpiece :)
The cheese selections were great and I opted for a horseradish cheese which gives just the right kick to the sandwich.
The Dutch crunch bread is fresh and quite tasty.
There's an amazing selection of sides, meats (for you carnivores and omnivores) , and hot dishes too.
Highly recommend this place for meat eaters and vegetarians alike!
I'm looking forward to visiting again and trying their homemade pasta or the...
