Sunrise “was” a good place to go back in tha day …. That’s what I tell people now
Pre-pandemic I would come here often and dine in. Good food, old school diner feel.
During the pandemic when I couldn’t dine in I’d get take out and they kept switching back and forth between DoorDash and another take out system - got really annoying and confusing. The final straw was when I got my take out DoorDash and one of the employees chased after me, grabbed me, and asked me my name and to see proof of order . I guess they were having issues with people stealing DoorDash orders - I think there might be a better way to go about this then assaulting your regular customers (person at table handing out orders?)
I didn’t go back for a long time after that. It just felt kinda yucky and gross after that experience. I finally went back a few times recently because my wife loves one of their breakfast dishes, but this last experience was it. After 7 years of going to this place on and off I’m not coming back. The staff that work here have been here for a while, maybe because it is a family run business (not sure), and think it’s ok to treat customers poorly and get away with it. This time a male staff member, with long red hair, freaked out and got really angry because we tried to sit in a different seat then he assigned to us. Very aggressively walked over and told us to move back to our original seat. I get there’s a process but this outburst by him was uncomfortable for us and the rest of the customers in the restaurant- not going back again.
Thoughts on how this could have been handled differently? Not that I think the staff here really care at this stage. Maybe ask us if the seat we were given had issues and offered to reseat us somewhere that didn’t have those things….?
Good food still, they lost the old diner feel, and the good service and friendly staff left when the...

I ordered the egg scramble for my son, and to my surprise and happiness, he finished the whole plate — something that rarely happens anywhere else. That alone made the visit special.
As for myself, I chose the quiche, which was fresh, warm, and comforting — as if it had just been made with care and attention. It carried that homemade flavor that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.
I had hoped to try the Eggs Benedict, but sadly, it’s only served on weekends. I wish it were part of the weekday menu too — some cravings can’t tell what day it is.
The only shadow on this otherwise bright experience was the service. Since we ordered at the counter, no one really checked on us afterward. Even though the restaurant was quiet — a calm Wednesday morning around 11 — the absence of follow-up felt a bit lonely in an otherwise warm space.
Still, the food and atmosphere carried the visit. There’s something sincere about this place. I’ll be back — next time, on a weekend — and with hope for both a perfect plate and a little more...
Read moreNOT FOR VEGANS. This is a local business with a great reputation. If I am not mistaken the owner is Lebanese or Palestinian married to a Mexican. I met them at a conference in Pleasant Hill. They did the catering. My experience was good then. Unfortunately this time, I got the worst vegan food here. I ordered a vegan burrito bowl for delivery that was described as a "fajita style tofu, on a bed of fried potatoes with mushrooms." It sounded too good to be true. THIS IS WHAT I GOT AND WHAT YOU CAN IMPROVE: --only 3 large pieces of fried potatoes --some overcooked fried dark mushrooms --uncooked small tomato pieces that did not look fresh --huge chunks of uncooked sparkling white large tofu cubes --no fried bell peppers --no large pieces of fried onions The portion was small, there were ingredients missing and there were those that were uncooked. In other words, it was a salad plus fried potatoes :( SUGGESTIONS: --Use fried bell peppers, fried onions, and fried tomatoes in big chunks. In fact, cook them together. Then, fry your tofu until it is well done. --Add the actual portion of fried potato "bed" --Don't overcook your...
