A friend in my office gave me a $25 gift certificate to the BH Grill. I surprised my husband by suggesting this place when he asked what I wanted to do for lunch. (Usually I sorta shrug and mumble something about tacos). We drove downtown, paid for metered parking inside the garage on Locust (that's new), then walked across the street to the grill.
I ordered the Greek Salad ($7.99) with extra olives (which I think they forgot) and Casey ordered the Bacon/Cheddar sandwich ($9.99). Two sodas for $3.98 and we were only a dollar under the gift card's amount. Perfect!
Our buzzer rang really fast - there isn't much on the sandwich so I guess it's pretty easy to put together. I started my salad wondering if it had been dressed. I mixed it around some and found more dressing at the bottom. When I actually reached the bottom it was really, really dressed. Aside from that, it was pretty good. The pita sticks it comes with weren't really crunchy, more like oily fried bread, but I ate them too.
My husband's sandwich was supposed to have a ranch sauce on it, which he even confirmed when he picked it up, but it was very mustardy tasting (which I love, and he hates). Beef, cheese, and bacon are on the bread, and that's it. The cheese is only on the top so he was disappointed it wasn't on every bite (or at least a few more bites than it was). Near the end of his sandwich he gave up on the meat (there were some oddly chewy pieces) and I finished part of it. When I returned to work, a co-worker asked if something smelled like horseradish. My goodness, it must've been me! My toothbrush and I fixed that problem, but the problem of a just-average $10 sandwich remains. Glad it was a gift certificate. I don't think I would have rated so highly had we paid...
Read moreThis is located in downtown Walnut Creek where there are street parking and public parking all around, a big plus in my book. I’ve past this place many time and never went in. This time we went in for lunch.
The food was good, I didn’t find anything noteworthy or anything I tasting that would make me say oooooh so yummy! I did like the fact that when I ordered the Salmon, they gave me a choice to get it as a sandwich or a platter. So I ordered the platter while my cousin ordered the sandwich (the bread was soft brioche). The presentation of the food I needs improvement. However presentation is not everything but it’s how you get people’s attention. 😂
A friend ordered impossible burger, she said “it was standard” it was good and she was glad they had that option. The service was ok. You order at the front and they bring the food to you (so it’s not like a full service restaurant).
The Ambiance is bright, clean, and not too loud. So for overall experience I give this place 3.5 stars. Again I wish we could give half stars. So it was good but can be better....
Read moreI love the tritip salads at Buckhorn. The service and the food presentation here is normally good. This was our first time we were at this Buckhorn since Covid. We were the first ones in the door.
We were told it would be a while because they had phones orders to fill. 30 minutes later I had to go in and check on my food. Lines were long, they were short staffed and food orders were stacking up on the counter. The girl at the register was taking orders, delivering food, and filling drinks. Needless to say people were standing around waiting and not very happy.
I could see an order that I thought was ours on the counter but I could not get her attention so I waited in line again just to ask if that was my order. It was and it looked thrown together. I never could get a refill of ice tea. Nobody cleaned the tables outside after customers left.
Terrible experience for a $40 lunch. I want to support restaurants through Covid but they are going to have to do...
