A Must-Visit for Cheesesteak Lovers! Every visit to The Cheesesteak Shop is a win, but I have to say, the Philly Joe’s is my absolute favorite! It’s the perfect blend of flavor and comfort — loaded with savory meat, melty cheese, and just the right kick of spice. If you haven’t tried it yet, you're seriously missing out. The atmosphere here is super friendly and welcoming. Whether you're popping in for a quick bite or hanging out with friends, it always feels like a laid-back spot to enjoy a great meal. The soft drink selection is also impressive — lots of variety, so there’s something for everyone. Shoutout to Shannon, the manager, for running such a smooth and inviting shop. It’s clear she cares about both the customer experience and her team. And big kudos to Jose — he’s always upbeat, helpful, and brings great energy to every visit. The whole staff is fast, friendly, and efficient — they really know how to keep things moving without ever making you feel rushed. Also worth mentioning: the bathroom is always clean, which is a huge plus and honestly rare to find these days. Highly recommend this spot to anyone craving a legit cheesesteak and a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be back — probably sooner than I should be!

I’ve been to this location at least 5 times and every single time I came it was disgusting or my food was cold or my cheese wasn’t melted. There was always a problem. The male employees have been a bit rude and that would be before I even would complain about my food. I stopped coming to this location because of it. Today however, it was close and I was hungry so I decided to give it one more shot, I’m glad I did because I had a great experience the cashier Daniela was really friendly and nice and the cook was Alyssa and she made the best Philly cheesesteak I’ve had in a long time. Alyssa was really friendly and nice as well. The steak was perfectly made and my cheese was finally melted lol. I gave her a shoutout in the store and she seemed super grateful!! Thank you Alyssa for finally making me a Philly cheesesteak as I once remembered growing up as a kid.

Gosh dang, this sandwich was amazing. I don’t consider myself a big cheesesteak person, or even a big red meat person, but it was perfectly balanced. Fresh ingredients made to order — a bit of a wait required, but so worth it. Prices are sort of in line with everything else in Walnut Creek (after all is said and done, between $15-20 per person).

Wow! I have been a patron of this location for 15 years and have never been treated so poorly by one of their employees! My wife and I came in at 8:13pm and we're told that they close in 17 minutes in a very rude manner. She then tried to pressure us to just order right then. My wife explained that we have been coming here for years but just wanted to look at the menu. So the employee retorted with "Well you can just order what you normally do". At this point I was ready to leave but my wife really wanted a sandwich so she ordered herself one. When the same employee was making it, she continued to make unnecessary comments. Like comments about us ordering the sub with extra meet. Needless to say, I have no plans of returning anytime soon. I walked in there tonight planning on getting a couple of subs, a few sides, and a couple drinks. I left feeling insulted, and with just food for my wife because I refuse to give any company my hard earned money to insult me! She needs some serious training. All I can say is the change of ownership has really made this place go down hill. So goodbye forever...

Been going here for years with my family and typically changes are not this drastic when it comes to the food. The recyclable/compostable boxes are gone with this new bag they have chosen to use. Be wary as to put the cheese steaks in the bag they have to wrap them up in a burrito wrapper that will get colder if you are getting the steak on the go even with the aluminum outerbag. That isn't even the worst part about it. Unlike before where they can have the open cheese steak be stable while having the correction proportions of cheese and meat with your other toppings, these new cheese steaks will be almost all bread, barely any cheese, and if you get something like a gilroy NO MEAT all garlic. If there is barely any cheese or steak I don't think you can call it a cheese steak and quality control because you can't just "peak in the box" anymore is...
