I usually don't like writing negative reviews, but this has to be written.
We visit Limon a lot, at least 2-3 times a month; yesterday, we decided to have dinner here after a long soccer tournament with our son; our order was four steak Lomo Saltado and one chicken; before placing all orders, I kindly asked "can you please make sure for all plates to have the steak very well done, I even added " I won't be upset if you bring me burned steak, but I will if the steak is raw/bloody" 40 mins later, we get our food, mind you my 11-year-old and 2 year old are starving already, our plates have red/raw steak, I called the waitress back and kindly asked if she could please cook it some more, she took all plates back and 37 mins later, we get the food back, the steak is significantly less and no potatoes, INSTEAD they replaced the potatoes with "yucca root" my oldest son is allergic to yuca, Thank God I noticed it before he took a bite of his steak that was mixed with the Yuca Root, so I waited for everyone to confirm their plates were also missing the potatoes, called the waitress back and asked what was happening why was our food missing advertised ingredients and she replied "Well maybe the kitchen ran out of potatoes" this is one of their MAIN dishes, how can they run out of potatoes, but okay I said it would have been nice if you would have informed us before to confirm we still wanted the food because we clearly don't anymore, I am not paying $35 for a plate that is NOT what I ordered.
I asked to speak to the manager; another gentleman came. We told him the situation, and he apologized and agreed that the waitress should have informed us before bringing the plates back. He grabbed the manager. The manager came in, apologized as well, and made it seem like he was going to make it up for us, which for me would have been "Discounted an amount from each plate for not having all the ingredients they advertised this main dish with."
Twenty minutes later, we got the bill and the waitress. " The manager took off a plate as an apology for all the inconvenience." You got to be kidding me; after all the horrible service and food we got, this is what he calls "fixing the issue." taking care of their loyal customers." My husband was still kind enough. He left a $40 tip against my will because the waitress was horrible with her service.
Thankfully, Limon is a chain, so this is NOT one location we will visit ever again.
IT IS THE WORST SERVICE AND FOOD WE HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM ALL THE RESTAURANTS I'VE VISITED. I WISH I COULD GIVE A...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting Limón. My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary yesterday 11/18/24 (wasn’t my initial pick but he loves Peruvian food so we gave it a shot). To start, we walked in and stood at hostess booth for a while. The staff obviously saw us as they kept starring at us but no one actually came to seat us even though there were many tables open. I had to approach a server and asked if we seat ourselves. She said no, but “go ahead and pick a table.” Felt a little awkward as everyone just kept starring at us standing there. So we sit down and server came with menus.
We ordered ceviche and drinks. Got the ceviche with no chips or anything to accompany the dish. Asked the server if it came with anything she said you can have Taro chips (didn’t mention it’s an extra $4 charge). We got the Taro chips. We got our food: beef ribs, tacu mariscos, and chicken appetizer. The food was tasty but not authentic as my has lived in Peru and wasn’t too impressed (he just moved here from Peru). We also kept getting asked if the dishes could be cleared even though we were clearly still eating our food. We wondered if they were going to close soon because We felt rushed (it was 8:15 pm, they close at 9:30).
We finished our meals and asked for the check. The server returned with card reader and ran the card, kept tapping her hand on the card reader. I asked if there was a problem with the card. She said no there’s no problem. She then handed the device to my husband so he could sign. She didn’t give us a receipt so I asked for one so that we could write the tip amount. She brought back a receipt with the tip already charged at 25%!! Now I tip well for good service, but I certainly didn’t feel the service we received justified a 25% tip. Especially since the server decided to add the tip herself!!! asked my husband if he had added the 25% tip before he signed and he said no, hence why I asked for the receipt. I asked for manager and was told there was no manager, that he had to “leave early.” Clearly they must do this often and get away with it. It completely ruined the night for me and we will NOT be going back to this place. Not only was the service subpar but they choose to tip themselves generously without your consent. Save your money and go...
Read moreUpdate: reducing rating from 4 to 1 star I dined here over a dozen times in the past couple of years. Food is basic, non sophisticated chicken (or your choice of protein) with rice etc. I kept coming back for the sauce-kinda ridicules of me..I just love it. Today was my last visit though. When you stop by on a regular basis, one notices change..and the changes I’ve experienced here are not complimenting to this place: dishes have steadily increased in price and in some cases also decreased in size, for example: the empanadas - used to get 3 for an appetizer, today it was down to only 2. I checked with the waitress whom confirmed it was not an error. When it comes to soft drinks, at $4 Coke/ soda, you get the 12 oz can they buy for about 25 cents without the opportunity for a free-refill, which is typically the reason diners are willing to pay that amount for a soft drink. ..That sauce, aji Amarillo - I told the waitress when I ordered I will be needing a lot because that is the reason I dine there. When the food arrived, off course there was not enough for me so I asked for more. Another waitress showed up saying I will be charged $2.50 for it. After pressing the matter, she finally said she will check with the manager for waiving that charge..ridicules!!! Bill kept listing obscured fees that have nothing to do with the food. Service: A swarm of useless untrained and annoying staff: The empanadas finally show up after I was done with my entree….but it was the appetizer..add to that the useless staff-swarm try to pull off plates/ dishes from the table when not asked to as you’re still eating. The whole experience was too aggravating. Basically, the owner has allowed his/ her greed to go to far while doing little to keep quality and customer satisfaction last. There is so much you can milk it..
Not recommended. Will not be returning here again.
Adding some new photos.
I Enjoy stopping by here for chicken, rice, empanadas, all drenched in their amazing Aji Amarillo sauce. Sometimes wait for a table is annoying, but it’s worth the wait for this sauce. Aside from the sauce, food, service etc are otherwise OK. Can get a little too...
