I am Cuban. And when I saw this restaurant I was in heaven because in the Bay Area I haven’t found any Cuban restaurant that match what I’m use to eating. Let me start by saying the croquettes are not made correctly. But it has good flavor just not real Cuban.
Then I ordered ropa vieja but it too was not correctly made. But the flavors were ok just not Cuban. Then the rice is Mexican rice. But I thought I was in a Cuban restaurant lol.
The waiter was nice and quick. But the food did taste good but it’s not Cuban food. :(. And for the price I paid I was tempted to ask for a refund because I came into a Cuban restaurant expecting Cuban food but it felt like I was eating more Mexican food and flavors. :(.
I asked the people sitting next to me if this is there first time coming here and they said oh no we come here all the time. So I asked what do u like from here and they said everything. I then told them I’m Cuban and my family owns a famous Cuban restaurant in LA and I can assure u this is not Cuban food. But it does taste good but they are selling the Cuban brand but nothing I had was Cuban flavored and I’ll Croquettes is very easy to make and prepare and they manage to twist it up adding cheese which again not bad but not what I was expecting when I thought I was going to have Cuban food. They didn’t have one of the main Cuban dishes. Which is arroz Moro which is rice and black beans cooked together making the rice black. Instead they had Spanish or Mexican rice. I was very disappointed and I wish I could get my money back or even half of it back and they should reconsider changing the name of the restaurant because it’s not real Cuban food. :(.
The desert was maybe the only thing that was ok. But then again I had a flan the price for the small piece was the heartache for me. And they didn’t have tresleche cake that’s more Cuban desert.
The other pic is the croquettes they were shaped wrong. And the ham inside was not minced and it had cheese.
Please people if u go here don’t think this is Cuban food. It’s just a name but it’s not real...
Read moreWent here on Saturday for a brunch endulgence. I got there at 12 o'clock. I had a group of four with me. We ordered drinks maijito bottemless for brunch and food around 12:15 and the wait for food and my first drink was 30 minutes... it was a wait because there was a large party going on and the servers were committing to that large party. The food we ordered chicken wings with orange zest and I have to say they were dry and lacked flavor. The person in my group said it's nothing like the ones she remembered ordering when she came before... the next person ordered the chicken plate and it was delicious and flavorful with a great lemon marinate. The one thing I ordered was the cuban sandwich 🥪. So my sandwich was not any cuban sandwich I had authentic before... the cuban sandwich is supposed to be made with roasted pork and then layered with ham and pickles and sweet mustard with pickles. What I got was deli ham and turkey and Swiss cheese with the right mustard and pickles amount... the bread for the sandwich was hard and was hard to eat. For example its like over toasted bread. Man I only took two bites of my sandwich because it was so hard ... for brunch mojitos I had a total of 6 in my hour and a half visit there ... because of the party and busier it got the services lacked... when I was ready to pay the bill the server asked how was the food and I made my disappointed statement that the cuban sandwich was not good and she took my plate and threw it away and lacked customer...
Read moreIve been a long time customer at this establishment. I have celebrated many birthdays and brought in big parties to dine at this establishment, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I walked in today, having left my wallet because my hubby pays (obviously). The greasy haired waiter declined to serve me a mojito due to lack of ID. 100% understandable. My hubby gets his mojito and asks me to try it. Immediately after I take a sip, a white bald headed heavy set man stormed to my table, glared down at me and threatened me. He yelled at me so loudly that all of the patrons dining noticed and stopped to stare. I have never been this humiliated in my entire life.
As regulars, this is absolutely heartbreaking. An establishment that we’ve personally recommended and supported for many years treated us like children. We have literally tried everything on the menu. We had an order that we regularly got. The hostess always recognizes us and is always very kind and helpful.
When asked for the bill, which only included one drink, the waiter was extremely rude and obnoxiously sighed, as if we were inconveniencing him. This treatment is not acceptable. We were belittled, reprimanded and infantilized.
Tonight, we were looking forward to a nice dinner, and were met with public humiliation...
