Had the worst interaction with some of the staff here today. Went in with my 80-year-old mom for a hot drink around 2pm (they close at 3) and, based on the name of the place, thought this would be a great place to stop. Nice interior and was surprised to see a big square bar in the middle--looked like a fun place (so I'm giving it 4 stars for "atmosphere" even if I only feel ick).
Hostess offered to seat us, and I mentioned that we just wanted coffee. She was very nice and brought us to our seat. There was no wait and plenty of empty tables around us. Waitress brought us our drinks but, when she asked us for our food order and I explained we only wanted coffee, she gave an audible HUFF and angrily grabbed our menus before stomping off. THEN the manager came over and sternly announced that tables were for patrons ordering food. I explained that we had told the hostess we only wanted a coffee and was surprised that a place called Cape Cod COFFEE would not let someone sit with a coffee! Especially as there were no people waiting, empty tables on all sides of us, and they were closing in less than an hour! If the hostess misheard me, I would consider it an honest mistake, but we were made to feel like WE had been dishonest.
And while we couldn't get out of there fast enough, we were then ghosted by our waitress for so long that I had to ask another waitress for the check. It was placed on the table without a word.
Such an incredibly rude and negative experience that should've been handled differently. A simple, "Oh, I'm sorry there was a misunderstanding: In the future please know that tables are for food service" would have been fine.
So whatever you do, don't try to go here for a coffee! Should be called Cape Cod Coffee-and-you-better-order-food.
EDITED TO ADD: I don't plan on contacting the business because I don't need anyone to "make good" on a $6.95 tab. I just want the business to be kinder to its patrons, and tell the hostess to inform people, "you must order food to get a table" if that is the policy. (I'd also suggest a name change but that may be...
Read moreThe place looked nice, we waited about 15 min. To place our order. Being like brunch time and having no breakfast yet, I ordered the 3 pancakes and a sunset coffee. It took another 18 minutes to get waited on. My friend kept saying ( go up there and make sure they know we are here), we knew how long we waited because we were hungry and watching the time now. Finally our meals came. I sliced my pancakes in half an diced that up with some butter and syrup. The coffee was very good. Next I notice something seems off with the pancakes, but I’m very hungry by now. I have a few more and think something is off, but I’m so hungry. My friend tastes some to see if I’m right. And we both try a tad more and agree it’s just wrong! Now half the order is gone and I’m ready to complain like I normally would hate to do. Well another 15 mins goes by, I’m liking my coffee and we are awaiting service. I get the waiters attention and he comes and asks how everything is. We both say the pancakes are off. He checks on that for us. Another 15 minutes later as we’ve been waiting to go for awhile now, he comes back after he sees my wave and says he’ll bring the check. I then say I hope you can take something off my pancakes and he replies (“ well, you ate half of them”, want a box for the other half?) . I say, I was hungry, they tasted off, we then both tried them before complaining and I finally said no more eating this there’s definitely something wrong with them. Ten minutes later he comes back and says that he gave me a 25% discount. Nice, but you know what…, it should have been 50% at least! With all the time spent there and giving back half my meal, I don’t think I should have been thrilled! He should’ve taken my pancakes off the tab. We’re never going back. I paid the tab and still gave this guy a 20% tip. He did take something off the bill, but I think you get the picture as to why I’ll never go back. Maybe it was just a bad day! I’m not even gonna get to my friends meal which was a moldy tasting breakfast wrap! Her stomach was upset before we even left the place. No way are...
Read moreWhat a great addition to Wareham Crossing! We have always enjoyed shopping at LL Bean, Talbots Outlet, Wines and More but never had an appealing place to eat. Now we certainly do and are delighted. Cape Cod Coffee is so much more than a coffee shop; they serve breakfast and lunch and sometimes a light dinner. We sat at the bar (yes, you can have a little something beginning at 8 am) and enjoyed both the food and a lovely server, Sophie. First, the food; some of the best, freshest and most delicious options available. I had a huge breakfast sandwich of two eggs, cheddar and bacon served on a croissant. Perfect. Bob had a wonderful chicken salad roll up with the BEST, hot, delicious fries (seasoned wedges) either of us have ever tasted. Just leave those little string things for the kids; these were hearty and tasty. Good thing I was there to help share them. The staff was attentive and efficient. We were greeted warmly, given a choice of table or bar and glad we joined Sophie as she was friendly and took good care of us. Our food was served promptly and it was hot (always a prerequisite for a good meal). This gem has been open less than a month but it ran smoothly and offered a very nice menu. Its location is convenient to I-195 for those going or coming from the Cape (there’s a number of EV charging stations within walking distance), has lots of parking as part of the shopping area, and has extensive operating hours. The prices are very reasonable and we are thrilled to have reliable spot for a meal when visiting from Plymouth. We wish them...
