Cancun Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Warrensburg

Ratings made this place seem promising. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience.

The good: Things started off great - Service was quick and very friendly. We placed a to-go order and it was ready to pick up quickly. Prices at this restaurant are also very inexpensive and portion sizes were generous. Things went downhill when we got the food home and started to eat.

The bad: We ordered fajitas for two with flan for dessert, but they forgot to give us tortillas and the flan. The beef fajita meat was not seared and was mostly flavorless, and it was cut the wrong way (with the grain) so it was very tough even though it was cut into very small pieces. It had none of the normal fajita seasoning or smoky, seared flavor from being grilled - just flavorless. Same thing with the Spanish rice, it was also bland. The chips were okay, but the salsa had very little seasoning so it tasted like tomato sauce. The fajita veggies were also undercooked and not caramelized, so the undercooked green peppers and flavorless steak made this dish taste more like chewy pepper steak than fajitas.

They serve pepsi, their food is great (can't beat the salsa & chips), and the price is right! Today, my daughter left her retainer on the table and the bus boy didn't see it. We went back 30 min later and no one had seen it. The manager spent the next 20 min digging through the trash with me to find it. Alas, we still couldn't find it. I decided to throw in the towel when the manager started going through the nastiest trash I have ever seen. At that point, I attempted to give him a tip for his above and beyond service, but he absolutely refused insisting that it wasn't a big deal. As I left, he asked me to leave my number, because he was going to go through the trash again before business close. At dinner time, I just got a phone call saying that they found it. That guy dug through that nasty trash for me to find that retainer and absolutely refused to take a tip for the extra duty. Now that's incredible service!!!! ...

This was my last visit. When you drive 25 miles each way for food, then have to do it all over again because they left out the very namesake of the meal, that's just too much. The odd side item being left out is one thing, but how the heck does one forget the steak and the shrimp and give you just beans and rice? That's next level carelessness and 'don't give a flip.' In case you're thinking, "You should have checked," just know that each foil plate is sealed with stiff paper and nothing is transparent, so checking means opening everyone's food, which is obtrusive and allows it to get cold (and shouldn't be needed).
