Read moreThis is a mixed review. I have a history of enjoying the food at Condado, but this last time was not quite up to par.
Start with the service. Not bad, but not great. He was a either rushed or not around at any given time. For the most part we didn't really wait long for anything, but we did have to a little bit to order appetizers, then our food, then on refills, and then on our check. The food server was clearly in training, but nice, and delivered our food.
Atmosphere is decent, but extremely exposed and it can be quite loud. Also, they need to learn how to level their tables, and actually do it - it's not hard. I feel like it's a standard to have a wobbly or uneven table, and that's not a good thing with messy food and drinks.
The food, this was the big miss this time. Not sure what happened but it just wasn't good.
First off, put down the salt... The ground beef was salty, the chicken was salty, the cilantro-lime aioli was salty. It was a lot, and it was unusual.
Second big miss was the rice. I expected white rice, maybe some light seasoning, not sure, but it didn't go over well with anyone at the table. I'm not sure what the flavor was, but it tasted somewhere between smoked and burnt. Maybe this is a woody/earthy flavor that I'm not familiar with, and that some people love, but I do not.
The last miss was a strange one for me. I love things saucy, but the Lucy's Fire taco I got had too much of the aioli. It was just unbalanced.
Not really a miss, but our plan for next time - instead of the Small Bud we'll just do one build your own. Two tortillas with meat and cheese is boring, especially with so many good flavors.
Everything else was good, the smoked cheddar queso was good. The loaded tots were well made, though do not plan to share, it's a small order.
Don't forget to validate your parking as you leave.
I'll be back, but probably without the fam next time to give Condado...
Read moreI ate a delicious meal recently [4-9-2022] at Condado Tacos [102 N. High St., Dublin].
I had never before been to that neighborhood of Dublin [except for many decades ago when none of the recently-built businesses had been there and I had been merely "passing through" that neighborhood on my way to another location further north].
I had spent quite a while -- for several days in advance of my trip there -- using Google Maps to research the many restaurants that are now available in that area.
My "restaurant choice" for that particular trip to that neighborhood had been difficult for me to make; however, I decided to eat that time at Condado Tacos. As is true at the other locations of Condado Tacos, the food had been great and the service had been friendly and efficient.
My tacos that day had been (1.) "Ooey-Gooey" [hard corn shell, black beans, queso blanco, roasted chicken, cilantro + onions, and dirty sauce] and (2.) "Korean BBQ" (shhh, secret shell!) [flour soft + hard corn shell with smoked cheddar queso, slow-roasted pulled pork, gochujang bbq sauce, pickled jalapeños, and pineapple salsa].
I had particularly liked the "secret shell" that had been used for the "Korean BBQ" taco because that taco shell had been a hard taco shell wrapped within a soft taco shell. I avoid hard taco shells whenever possible because they consistently break on first bite and the taco usually falls apart; the soft taco shell [plus a foil wrapper] prevented that taco from falling apart.
My "sides" had been (1.) Black Beans and (2.) Rice. The beans had been perfectly cooked and had been quite delicious; the rice had been great.
The environment at Condado Tacos had been boisterous [that location is definitely not a place for a quiet conversation]; the service had been friendly and quick. And as I have come to expect for Condado Tacos locations, the wall decorations had been...
