This is a fantastic spot. Stylish. Comfortable. Friendly.
The Getaway Beers appealed to me because I am a beer knurd who lived in Germany for a few years. Getaway, Jet Lag and Ash Cave are excellent examples of their styles. Alpine Architecture is a great German style pilsner punched up just a little bit for the American palate.
Dune Buggy is perfect if you want Belgian flavors with about half the octane.
Bungalow IPA has a hop character that is both familiar and exotic. It really did remind me of sampling strange and delicious fruits during my travels in South America and the Pacific Islands.
I was a little hesitant to even try the TUK TUK rice lager but this beer proves that "light" beer can be flavorful.
The "guest" beers from Seventh Son and Antiques On High perfectly round out an expertly curated selection. The only thing I might like to see added is a stout option, maybe a Dry Irish or a Tropical....of course, Fox In the Stout would be welcome.

Read moreI have been to getaway several times and it's a great place to get a beer. They have a decent selection of beers to fit just about anyone's pallet (if you enjoy beer). They also have a bar to mix up drinks that a fun if you like those. The staff has always been very helpful and kind. They allow you to bring in your own food which is nice with condado right across the street. They have a great patio area and it's nice because the cars haven't quite picked up speed yet getting out from the main area so it isn't loud. If I could have put a 4.8 rating, I would have. My only complaint would be perhaps a little better pricing during happy hour. They upgrade your glass size, but the price is the same. My only perspective is thinking about places I go like the daily growler. However, the ambiance at getaway is quite a bit better. I will...
Read moreThis is a great place to grab a drink or two with friends. It's big, has lots of windows, and there is a lot of outdoor(ish) seating
Normally I'd say that the drink prices were appropriate for the area, but they have zero table service. That's right, you pay server prices, but you have to be your own server as if you were at some dive bar getting cheap drinks in exchange for your free labor
Even going to the bar for all my own drinks wouldn't be so bad if it were slightly more thought- out. The area of the bar where the entire restaurant has to go for service is right inside the door. Everyone trying to enter or leave this establishment must push through the line of people waiting to get a drink. The extra special bit is that the only food available comes from a vending machine ALSO LOCATED RIGHT...
