I would like to start this review by saying Saturday, January 28, 2023 was the first time I’d visited the restaurant and will be my last because of the shameful customer service I experienced. I arrived alone and requested seating for three but there were no openings so sat at the bar. The younger of the two bar tenders greeted me and provided three menus and water. I then waved down the second bar tender after reviewing the menu for a few minutes literally using the flashlight from my phone because it was a bit too dim to read the menu (maybe a tactic to hide visible signs of old food). I requested the Cotes du Rhône wine which he let me taste and then I decided to go with the Pinot Noir Pullus. I also went ahead and ordered three appetizers- Baan Siam roll (4 rolls are served), golden fried pockets, and wings- while I waited for my group. Upon the arrival of the appetizers I tasted the roll but was not pleased with the taste or texture so did not finish it. The golden fried pockets were good and the wings were ok. One of my group members arrived and ordered a beer and a frozen lychee. She tried the roll but also did not care for it. I ordered the Khao Soi with fried garlic rice rather than the noodles which was recommended by a patron I was seated next to. My group member ordered a chicken atop rice but i’m not exactly certain which dish she ordered. The last member of my group arrived and he wasn’t asked what he’d like to drink but had to wave the bartender down which we had to do whenever we needed anything. The last of my group thought my dish tasted good so tried it and decided he also would like to order but the Khao Soi is on the spicy side so he asked the older of the two bar tenders- who we later found out was the manager and part owner- what were the different spice levels as in the menu it indicates that the foods may have three different spice level options. The bar tender rudely answered, “Nope, there’s only one. It’s just like that one there.” Which he responded with his back turned to us. We thought it a little odd but didn’t give it too much thought. The first of the two group members thought her chicken was over cooked upon arrival and immediately sent it back and ordered another plate of golden fried pockets. The last group member to arrive tried the Baan Siam roll of which there were two and a half left (it arrived with four, I ate half, the second member had one) and also decided he did not care for it and thought it too fishy. We ate our meals and finished our drinks and requested the bill. The bill arrived and the first of my two group members pointed out to the owner that the Baan Siam roll was still on there. The owner responded, “Nope, you ate three, you pay for them.” My group member responded, “There’s three of us and we each tried one but we did not eat three we sent it back with one and a half.” The owner responded, “Yeah, and you sent back three dishes.” Keep in mind that one dish was sent back immediately once it arrived as the chicken was thought to be rubbery and then the Baan Siam rolls. We paid our meal and will not be...

Baan Siam is a Thai restaurant located in the Mount Vernon Square neighborhood of Washington, DC. The restaurant has been serving authentic Thai cuisine since 2016. The menu features a wide variety of dishes, including curries, noodles, and stir-fries.
The restaurant is owned by Chef Jeeraporn "P' Boom" Poksupthong, who grew up in Thailand. P' Boom learned to cook from her mother and grandmother, and she brings her family's traditional recipes to Baan Siam. The food at Baan Siam is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and it is prepared with care.
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Baan Siam, and I was very impressed with the food. I started with the Tom Yum Goong soup, which was flavorful and spicy. For my main course, I had the Pad Thai, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also had the Khao Soi Gai, which was a delicious curry noodle soup.
The service at Baan Siam was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he made sure that we had a great experience. The atmosphere at the restaurant is warm and inviting, and it is a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
Overall, I had a very positive experience at Baan Siam. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is inviting. I would definitely recommend it to others.
4 Stars
The only reason I gave Baan Siam 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food came out a little too fast. I would have liked to have had a few more minutes to enjoy my meal. However, this is a minor complaint. Overall, I had a very positive experience at Baan Siam, and I would definitely recommend it to others.
Unique Style of Thai Food
One thing that I really appreciated about Baan Siam is that the food has a unique style that is not found at many other Thai restaurants. The dishes are flavorful and well-balanced, and they use fresh, high-quality ingredients. I would definitely recommend Baan Siam to anyone who is looking for a delicious and authentic Thai...
Read moreI recently dined at a restaurant where I tried a variety of dishes that left me with mixed feelings. While nothing was downright bad, none of the dishes really stood out either. Here's a breakdown of what I tried:
Khao Sai with Chicken: This dish, a Thai curry noodle soup, was decent but lacked the depth of flavor I expected. The broth was mild, missing the rich complexity and spice that make Khao Sai a standout dish. The chicken was tender, but overall, the dish felt somewhat bland. Lemon Grass Chicken: The Lemon Grass Chicken had potential, but it fell short in execution. The chicken was cooked well, but the flavor from the lemongrass and herbs was very subtle, and I found myself wishing for more of a fragrant punch. It was pleasant but not memorable. Chicken Pineapple Bites: These were small pieces of chicken with pineapple, but unfortunately, they didn't quite hit the mark. The combination of sweet and savory didn't come together as well as I'd hoped, and the dish felt a bit one-dimensional. Spicy Fried Mushrooms: The mushrooms were crispy, but the "spicy" element was underwhelming. There was a light heat, but not enough to really call it spicy. The coating on the mushrooms was okay, but it lacked the crispness or seasoning that could have elevated the dish. Coconut Ice Cream: Dessert was pleasant enough, with a nice, creamy coconut flavor. However, the ice cream felt a little too icy rather than smooth and velvety, which detracted from the experience , the Coconut flavor was missing. Overall, the meal was perfectly fine but uninspiring. None of the dishes had that wow factor, and I couldn't help but feel that they were all a bit rushed or lacking in attention to detail. If you're craving something specific or just looking for a quick bite, it's not a bad option, but I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit. The flavors didn’t pop the way they could have, and the overall experience left me wishing for a bit...
