This is my favorite restaurant in DC. Yes: the customer service is awful sometimes (although at least one girl who works there is extremely kind). Yes: some of the workers don't really speak English, which makes communication quite hard. And yes: the place is a poorly maintained hole-in-the-wall establishment, and sometimes it's dirty, and homeless people wander in from the street to try and get cigarettes from me or catcall my girlfriend. HOWEVER: for less than $10 you can get the best god damn Chinese food I've ever had in the city - scratch that, the best in my life.
I've been treated far worse by people who speak perfect English for far worse food, so I'm giving this 5 stars with the small asterisk to be polite and patient when trying to explain your order over the phone. I don't care if I have to get in ten fights with vagrants, I would fight my own mother for their succulent Seafood Delight. Anyone who complains about the customer service or the decor clearly doesn't understand that immigrants who put their whole life into this establishment might be a little overwhelmed because they're focused on making such ABSOLUTELY...
Read moreTo be honest I was skeptical of the high recommended reviews this restaurant was receiving based on buying into the hype before with high recommendations google reviews on other carryouts restaurants in the area an was let down with the food sadly so I decided to give this restaurant a try as well an boy o boy was i totally surprised I ordered two lunch specials of szechuan beef & beef with broccoli which only came up to $15 an some change which was a bargain of a price for both meals the portions were plentiful for a lunch special where most other carryouts lunch specials are usually smaller and more expensive the food itself was very delicious the beef was cooked very well not undercooked or tough to chew the vegetables & fried rice were also flavorful and made fresh I was very pleased I wasn't bamboozled again by Google reviews the high recommendations were spot on this time I will definitely be back again to order from...
Read moreIs this really Chinatown? It's the most disappointing one I've been to for a large city. I was wondering why my local Asian friends never go there. It's so small and most of the stores seem to be American stores w/ some Chinese lettering posted next to the English. If someone told me that there used to be a Chinatown here and it's almost entirely gentrified I'd believe them. Some of the restaurants are certainly old and run down like what you'd find in a typical Chinatown but the food wasn't big-city Chinatown goodness for me. I think Chicago and NY's Chinatowns are definitely worth visiting but I'll put this below Atlanta's Chinatown that has mostly moved and spread out. Swing by if you're interested in a quick Chinese-food fix but if you're not already in the area I think there's much more in DC where your time will be...
