Even though I am a loyal repeat customer Roaming rooster typically ranks as an 8/10 for me and this is for 2 reasons. The first is simple, their chicken sandwiches are absolutely incredible but the wax paper that it comes wrapped in absolutely destroys the bun even after only a 5 minute drive home. I ordered it without the wax paper, just in the box and it was far better. and I finally noticed the toasted bun which I never would have typically noticed because the bread is smashed flat and mushy by the wax paper. the chicken was alsp crispier and pushed the sandwich from an 8/10 to a 10/10 even after a 25 minute walk home. The next issue is the fries which are fine if eaten immediately but similarly and soggy, oversalted noodles after sitting in the bag for 5 minutes. Roaming rooster should play around with frying temperature or something to keep them crispy and lower the salt a bit.

The coleslaw is unique, it has Jalapeños and pickled onions in it and is the best I have had in my entire life. I have also heard they have fantastic shakes

--TLDR--

With a few simple fixes(getting rid of the wax paper wrapper on samdwiches and tweaking the french fry recipe to keep them crispy for more than 5 minutes and watchibg the salt level) Roaming rooster could go from an 8/10 to a 10/10 and would be the best fast casual chicken...

Not from the area, but needed to get something to eat after visiting someone else n Sibley Memorial.

Quick search of the area, I settled on the Roaming Rooster for a first time try! Young lady working the counter was very pleasant and helpful in my choice of sandwiches. Recommended, heat wise, I start with the mild flavor for my first try, chicken, BLT. Also added fries and and a large ice tea, lil lemon!

Order was prepared in a timely manner, with both the chicken and fries freshly fried. One thing I appreciated is that the heat is via a mayo based sauce that cone on the side vs directly on.

While it did not taste bad, I opted not to use it in n my sandwich. Their chicken sandwich is a very good! The Schroeder lettuce, tomato, and bacon were all and the chicken is flavored well, with a hint of cayenne on the end.

The fries were a good, boardwalk style fries… nothing you haven’t had before, and the tea, just ok.

Admittedly… I ordered with my stomach vs my eyes When the young lady informed me my total was $22., I quickly became the guy from the, don’t become your parents, insurance commercial, informing the young lady,”I’m just paying for mine🤣!

While a lil pricy (just a lil) overall experience was great and I definitely recommend if haven’t tried RR, you should!

And … no pics…. Just...

So, the burgers here at roaming rooster were good but the chicken tenders were way way too spicy. I have a high tolerance for spice and this was really spicy for me; Even though I got medium spice, not even hot, just medium. If you want the chicken tenders you should get mild or just don’t get them. It was also pretty expensive one burger is like 11 dollars. I went with my family (4 people) and the total was like 73 dollars, we could’ve gotten sushi instead of this and we would still have extra money left over. The fries are good but I suggest to not get honey mustard or rooster sauce. Those just aren’t for me. This is my first time coming here so idk if they just accidentally mixed up the medium spice chicken tenders for...

There's not too much to say about Roaming Rooster. If you want a consistently good fried chicken sandwich, this is our favorite spot in the city. They have a range of spiciness levels to accommodate all guests and several different sandwich/non-sandwich options to choose from. These sandwiches are messy, so I wouldn't suggest eating them on the go (e.g., on public transportation, while driving). Their side of fries is very large, enough so that we shared the order three ways and were still unable to finish everything. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but circle the block a few times, and you are likely to find something.

So today I decided to try both Dave's Hot chicken and Roaming roosters chicken. For both I got hot because I am not that good with spicy foods. This is the Roaming rooster review for the other one it's on their Google reviews. I thought the chicken was great the toppings tasted excellent especially when they fell on the plate. However it was not hot at all. I've had KFC Nashville hot chicken and it is much spicier. However this is the better choice between the two in my opinion. For the hot chicken sandwich I will give it a 8.5. I wish it were spicier so next time I will be getting the hottest one.
