Recently placed an order for pick-up here and had a terrible experience! Beware. Upon arrival for pick-up, I was asked my name and they could not find my order. I showed them the electronic receipt and they said no problem, it will be ready in 5 minutes. I am asked to take a seat and wait. 25 minutes later, the waiter comes back and tells me I set my order for pickup at 7pm. Not true, I showed him my electronic receipt again, my order was set for pickup at 5:45pm. He asked me to continue waiting, another 10 minutes go by, before he finally realized he has my order ready the whole time. I ended up waiting more than 30 minutes for an order pick up, was never offered a drink or any apologies for the error and left with food that had been sitting out and lost its hot temp. Look I understand mistakes happen but the terrible customer service, being blamed that it was my fault and not even saying, "I am really sorry for the confusion, thank you for waiting". Very very...
Read moreI can't speak for the food, but would recommend that anyone using the online ordering feature beware. I placed an online order after hours for the next day, and was immediately charged.
I arrived to pick up the order - midday on a Saturday - but the restaurant was closed (no indication of a change in hours on the website). I assumed the charge would automatically be reversed as a clear mistake, since there was no possibility of the order being fulfilled.
When this did not occur, I messaged restaurant a few days later, and on not receiving a response, I called. The person on the phone was short with me and demanded that I call back at another time later that day.
I did so, and was told that the charge had already been reversed and it would show up in a few days. I waited about 2 weeks, no refund. Contacted the restaurant again with no response. A month after the order, I was finally able to resolve everything...
Read moreThe first night a friend and I went to Talay Thai was an interesting experience. Both of us were staying in DC for work for around two months, and a long way from home, wanted something easy but good. Curries for the friend, and Tom Yum for myself. By the fourth time, they knew our drinks order off by heart.
The staff were always incredibly friendly, welcoming, prompt, and above all, cook really damn good food. There was not a night where said friend and I went to Talay Thai and left disappointed. They were always a spot of warmth, familiarity, friendliness and comfort food on what were often long, cold DC nights. I've not left a Google review before, but this one is worth making an exception for. They're just a thai restaurant--a normal, real thai restaurant with real people cooking good thai food for a real fair price, and for what they are, and for what they meant to two travellers, they are worth a...
