Great Thai food and service. We came kind of at the tail end of the shops hours where the kitchen was gonna close in 10 minutes, so felt a tad pressured to rush the food and drink choices (not by them—they were nice and patient—just in general). Our drinks, appetizers, and entrees ended up still being so tasty and piping hot! The chicken wings were so crispy and the sweet and sour sauce they had elevated them! The crab rangoons were super delicious. My SO and I got got chicken and beef Pad Thai dishes, reapectively (my rushed choice, but hey, can't go wrong) and it was definitely some of the best I've had in a minute! Most importantly, the service was great despite them winding down operations and they went out of their way to accommodate and not rush us, still checking on us to make sure we were enjoying our food and whatnot. I highly recommend this spot!

No one was at the host stand when we came in, and it took a good 3 minutes before someone saw us, looked irritated that we were there, and then seated us. The place was slammed, and it seemed like they only had two waiters. I know that means they are stretched thin but I was still shocked when the waiter greeted us by saying "Hurry up and tell me what you want" white motioning with his head to pick up the pace. When the food did come, they got my girlfriends order wrong. We didn't bother saying anything as we had comments soon and wanted to make good time. The padthai was decent but not worth waiting for so long and dealing with bad service.

THE place for inexpensive authentic as-can-be Thai food popular within the GenZ government interns who frequent this long-standing joint that survived the pandemic with good old fashioned delicious food. We love this place and it’s food and come here enough to know a good thing when we eat it. The drinks come heavy, the apps come fast, and the entrees never disappoint. Come here for the early crowd and Happy Hour specials. We had the spring rolls, fried wontons, yellow and red curries where you can adjust spiciness. Careful not to get ahead of yourself, looks can be deceiving.

Recently placed an order for pick-up here and had a terrible experience! Beware. Upon arrival for pick-up, I was asked my name and they could not find my order. I showed them the electronic receipt and they said no problem, it will be ready in 5 minutes. I am asked to take a seat and wait. 25 minutes later, the waiter comes back and tells me I set my order for pickup at 7pm. Not true, I showed him my electronic receipt again, my order was set for pickup at 5:45pm. He asked me to continue waiting, another 10 minutes go by, before he finally realized he has my order ready the whole time. I ended up waiting more than 30 minutes for an order pick up, was never offered a drink or any apologies for the error and left with food that had been sitting out and lost its hot temp. Look I understand mistakes happen but the terrible customer service, being blamed that it was my fault and not even saying, "I am really sorry for the confusion, thank you for waiting". Very very...

I can't speak for the food, but would recommend that anyone using the online ordering feature beware. I placed an online order after hours for the next day, and was immediately charged.

I arrived to pick up the order - midday on a Saturday - but the restaurant was closed (no indication of a change in hours on the website). I assumed the charge would automatically be reversed as a clear mistake, since there was no possibility of the order being fulfilled.

When this did not occur, I messaged restaurant a few days later, and on not receiving a response, I called. The person on the phone was short with me and demanded that I call back at another time later that day.

I did so, and was told that the charge had already been reversed and it would show up in a few days. I waited about 2 weeks, no refund. Contacted the restaurant again with no response. A month after the order, I was finally able to resolve everything...

The first night a friend and I went to Talay Thai was an interesting experience. Both of us were staying in DC for work for around two months, and a long way from home, wanted something easy but good. Curries for the friend, and Tom Yum for myself. By the fourth time, they knew our drinks order off by heart.

The staff were always incredibly friendly, welcoming, prompt, and above all, cook really damn good food. There was not a night where said friend and I went to Talay Thai and left disappointed. They were always a spot of warmth, familiarity, friendliness and comfort food on what were often long, cold DC nights. I've not left a Google review before, but this one is worth making an exception for. They're just a thai restaurant--a normal, real thai restaurant with real people cooking good thai food for a real fair price, and for what they are, and for what they meant to two travellers, they are worth a...
