My family and I dined at Ted's for breakfast/brunch on our arrival into DC back on 10/24/2019, we were a party of 7 and there was no wait for a table to accommodate and seat us but keep in mind that this was on a Thursday morning so depending on the day and time you may expect a wait it'll be worth the wait trust me. Ambience is very nice our waitress was Kiyah and she was excellent we made a friend at Ted's, she started without drink order's and she was on the ball friendly, attentive, accurate, They serve an all-day breakfast, with lunch, brunch, dinner with a substantial amount of fav's I ordered the Crab Benedict with Jumbo-lump crab meat w/Hash browns and three of my family members also followed suite and the rest decided on the Thick Cut French Toast and the Big Mark Breakfast which came with a Ted's tart-the pop tarts are life changing and can be gotten to go! The food did take a while to come out but Kiyah did keep us updated on when our food would be out but I did expect a lil of a wait with a larger party and when the food did arrive at our table everything was hot and looked delicious. The crab benedict was one of the best that I've had the lump crab was delicious it was delicate in flavor and their house-made hollandaise was to die for with a nice smooth creamy buttery flavor I did make one change, instead of a poached egg I opted for a nice scrambled egg which was great also, hash browns were a great addition to the crab benedict. The French toast is thick with a custard texture, and another highlight for me here was the Blueberry Cheesecake Tart it's a must have delicious blueberry and not a lot to overpower the cheesecake flavor or the tart they also have a dessert section where you can indulge in some Pies & Cakes, Milkshakes and if you want a little booze in your shake you can have one of their Boozy Shakes. It's also nice seeing the old episodes of the Andy Griffith show playing on the 1950's styled tv at the bar it gives you that old nostalgic feeling. I must say that I am glad that I had the chance to dine at TED's very good experience and your workers are fantastic and so attentive to your customers, GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and Kiyah exemplified that! Keep up the great work hopefully you all may think about putting a location here in South Florida,...
Read moreSo this review is a bit of a mixed bag and for good reason. Some of you will be totally turned off while others that are not familiar and or accepting of City living may be totally turned off…Js. So here’s the deal, my brother and I went to have brunch at Ted’s that happens to be one of my favorite spots to visit whenever in town. We had no reservations but lucked up and grabbed a bar stool table. As soon as we sat down my brother sneaker was stuck to a huge sticky mouse trap. 🤢 Yup! Pretty gross. Thank God there was no signs of a rodent on it. I immediately but discreetly notified the Managers. They too were appalled and quickly ran over to help detach the trap from the bottom of my brother’s sneaker. Mouse trap sticking to the bottom of a customer’s shoe, how dreadful! 😳 Many of you reading would have stopped there. No judgment. My brother and I grew up in the city and have traveled quite a bit so we understand. My bother is also a General Mgr. at a restaurant/club in DC so he gets it. So a mouse trap wasn’t a deal breaker for us. It’s not a restaurant thing, it’s a city thing. The Management apologized profusely and made up by offering our meal complimentary. Done. Now to the food and service. The service for me most recent, and in the past has been good. Nothing outstanding but pretty good for an always packed and bustling establishment. The food….My brother ordered chocolate chip French toast and bacon. The presentation, temperature was good and tasty. I went for the steak and eggs with chimichanga sauce. I keep reviews 100% so I will say I was disappointed the food came out luke warm. The mgr came around to check on us. He took my order back with no questions and made it right. The Expresso martini was delicious! The couple next to us ordered a huge Cinnabon roll that looked amazing! On the way out I grabbed 2 of their homemade desert tarts and was out! Everything considered, it was a good breakfast. Will I visit again? Absolutely! DC is a great place to visit and dine. Like any other cities there are challenges. In this case it’s good to know they are proactive, empathetic to their customers and striving to always improve! If you like my honest reviews follow me on instagram and Facebook at Jamiea...
Read moreFirst of all, I love the food here. My sit down experiences at this location have always been positive. This is one of the restaurants I bring out of town guests to. Sometimes I stop by the bakery counter to just pick up some pastries to-go though, and it was during one of these quick stops today that I had a horrendous customer service experience. I’m leaving a 2 star review so hopefully someone in management sees and addresses this because it was so bad.
I walked in with my two kids and walked over to look in the pastry case. There were a couple of items that weren’t labeled so I said “excuse me” to get the attention of the employee behind the counter. She looked at me over her shoulder so I asked what the two unlabeled items were. She glanced at them, and then turned her back towards me as she mumbled a response. I was surprised. I asked her to repeat herself and, with her back still turned, she mumbled another response. Okayyy. My kid was even asking me what another pastry was and I had no idea, but there was no help from the employee so we just skipped it. She kept her back to us the whole time we were looking so when we were ready to order, I had to ask twice for help before she came over, and she looked at me like we were bothering her. I told her what we’d like and she said “is that it?” I said yes and she walked away to pack the items up and let me pay without another word. It was so awkward. There was another older woman also behind the counter who seemed to be maybe making items, and she witnessed the whole weird interchange, she even gave me a friendly smile. But the interaction with the young woman was SO AWKWARD, I’ve rarely had such awful customer service encounters. It left a bad taste in my mouth for the whole restaurant.
That said, the carrot cake is phenomenal with an amazing...
