Original 2023 review: Excellent sandwich shop in the heart of DC. We ate at the 12th Street location twice last week and were very happy with the quality and service. Our group of 4 had a variety of sandwiches and everything was great. I personally had the club sandwich both times and loved it. Everything was very fresh, service was quick and friendly. Prices are not cheap, but we found the whole area to be expensive. Compared to the other places we had lunch that week, West Wing was the best value for the money, due to the superior taste and quality. Highly recommend.

Update August 2025: Just visited West Wing Cafe again, this time with a group of 17. We contacted them ahead of time due to group size. They sent us a menu and we submitted our order via email. Heather and her staff were super friendly and accommodating. Food was ready on time when we arrived, order filled perfectly, everything was great. The sandwiches here are fresh and delicious. My group raved about how good everything was. Really a gem of a sandwich shop in the...

My sister and niece were visiting us from South Korea and my wife and I took them for trip to the natural history museum. We decided to try an establishment out side the museum and this place was a short walk.

They location was clean and the walk has a great view of the capital. Staff were very friendly and the food came quickly. We got a Ruben, The club, the new york hot sandwich, the chicken soup and the salt and pepper and rosemary and oil chips

Everything we had was excellent. I am a big sandwich person and can say I was very satisfied. The sandwiches are all well seasoned and paired well with the chip to which there is a good variety. The chicken soup tasted home made and had chunks of chicken in it. It was very warm and satisfying in the January weather. They also had a larger variety of drinks including many sugar free options.

Next time we vist we will absolutely come here again. If you are like we were and debating eating in the museum I would recommend an trip here insteadas we left...

West wing Cafe has been a staple in my mornings the past week while working in DC. From a great drink selection to solid and hearty sausage egg & cheeses, this place has a lot to offer.

The staff are nice and quick to take your order, which would be super helpful if they were packed, but unfortunately this somewhat newer place is not getting the traffic they deserve, which may be due to marketing, because the location could not be much better. Just off of Pennsylvania Avenue next to the Waldorf and a quarter mile from Smithsonian row, it's a great spot that many people walk by daily. It is a bit dark and signage isn't incredible as it took me 2 days to see it, but the second you take a bite you forget all that.

Lunch selection looks tasty as hell, I think with some more business this place has a good shot of keeping open for...

It was hard to find a sit down restaurant for breakfast here in Washington DC. We ate here before one of our tours and it was pretty good. We still had to go to the counter and we were served in Styrofoam containers but it was still OK. It was a self serve but they still prepared the food for you. Nice and clean and the staff was friendly and the food was good.
