wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Khaled, thank you so much — you truly made our day and our trip to Washington, D.C.

On our last day in the city, my husband and I were searching for a souvenir shop to buy something special to remember our visit. We found I Love DC Gifts shop on Google and decided to head there. We arrived around 7:30 PM, only to find the store closed. Disappointed, we stood in front of the glass door trying to figure out a plan B, since it was our last chance to get a souvenir.

To our surprise, a tall, polite young man stepped out of the dark store — it was Khaled. He kindly opened the door and apologized that the shop was closed. Then, in a beautiful gesture we’ll never forget, he gifted us a free souvenir so we wouldn’t leave Washington empty-handed.

Thank you, Khaled! Your kindness meant so much to us. You didn’t just give us a souvenir — you gave us a memory we’ll always cherish. You truly made our trip to Washington...

Made in China, Sold to Me

Once we built with iron hands, For glory, for pride, for promised lands. Steel and fire, gears would turn, Now plastic breaks but profits burn.

Once we made the finest wares, With Yankee grit and craftsmen’s care. Now stamped and shipped from far away, And sold in stores where workers fray.

The stars and stripes wave paper-thin, Wrapped around goods we’ll toss again. Factories shuttered, towns gone dim, Ghosts of labor lost in wind.

They trade us dreams for fleeting ease, A cheaper cost, a quick-release. We buy, we toss, we buy once more, A bargain price to lose our core.

Yet deep within the rust and dust, A memory lingers, a nation’s trust. A time will come, a call will sound, When hands rebuild this hallowed ground.

For empire bends but does not break, And from decline, new steel we’ll make. Not plastic toys, not borrowed fate, But strength once...

The owner, Kadri Ismail, is a kind hearted and generous person. He truly cares about each and every one of his customers. If there was ever a store to support in DC this is one. I’ve brought all my friends and family here who come to visit. The prices are very affordable and the items are good quality. He even gives discounts for military/first responders. I 🤍 DC Gifts has everything you’re looking for in many options: magnets, keychains, postcards, collectors coins, Christmas ornaments, bookmarks, playing cards, golf balls, novelty desk items, t-shirts, sweatshirts, scarves, rain ponchos, umbrellas, and more! It’s a must visit and only a short walk from National Gallery of Art and Archive metro station. Thanks again Kadri! You are a true all star! I’ll be back soon!
