I rarely leave negative reviews and I thought about this review all evening. I have watched this place being built and read all the reviews about their food truck. Stopped in on 12-14-21 and ordered their main item. The coconut shrimp. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The shrimp were tiny (meaning they were the size of the tiny sauce cups that their house sauces come in), you couldn't taste the shrimp but rather the overpowering flavors of the batter. With Texas being known for fresh gulf shrimp, with shrimp being very affordable, and this business only selling shrimp I don't see how they are going to last. Maybe they should have stuck to the food trucks as this seemed to be a different product being offered based on other reviews from their existing customers. When your only game is shrimp I wouldn't have expected a huge cardboard box overflowing with a portion of salad and rice that would have fed a family of 4, adorned with 5 tiny shrimp. I had such high hopes when I walked in the door, and the atmosphere was on point. I wish they would have spent the money the dropped on surfboard and skateboard decks and invested in a little higher quality shrimp since this is ALL THEY SELL on their menu. The wife wants to try so we will be back and I will give it another chance before updating this review. I really want them to be a success but their are going to have to provide adult sized shrimp and shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico instead of these bland farm raised shrimp. Again, I'm not one for negative reviews but after looking last night, my sentiment seems to be on point with the rest who have tried this business that's new to Watauga. I drive by it twice a day, 5 days a week, and had been anxiously awaiting the opening. Sadly I left hungry, they threw out a pound (or more) of rice and salad when I left, and I can predict that they won't last long with this tiny offering. Best of luck Coco Shrimp. We want you, we need you, and we want to support you, but you can't be serious with these tiny shrimp when they is the only thing on your menu. Take this review seriously and you'll be a success. Listen to your customers who are trying to help you be a success. You have some great flavors, and vibe, but you definitely skimped on the...
Read moreWow 🤯 How many times does the experience and food get better the second time??? Maybe it was the fact that we'd been at the lake all day, but a second trip to Coco Shrimp had been on both our minds since the first time we stopped in. We were definitely NOT disappointed! We pulled up to a sparsely occupied parking lot at about 9:15 pm. That seemed kind of odd since it was pretty hopping the first time we tried them. While bantering with the super helpful counter attendant, we found out the Saturday night rush had just ended. We both ordered the sampler, she had Coco shrimp and Garlic herb, I had the Coco shrimp and sweet and spicy. Our attendant offered us 2 tacos for $3, and I stopped him at tacos to add them to our order before he could tell what kind of 🌮 We stopped at the drink station to grab some hibiscus 🌺 tea. Pro tip equal parts hibiscus tea and the lemonade 👌 chef's kiss! Once in our both (we had our pick of any booth save for one), we managed to form words like OMG and holy S*, between sounds of ecstasy! We both agreed that everything was even better than the first time! I went straight for my rice, my buttery and perfectly fluffy white rice that they somehow made a heavenly dream. Every subsequent bite was just showing off as it got better and better. Everything was cooked to absolute perfection 💯 The quiet atmosphere was the perfect ending to a lake day, and it definitely was a great and memorable experience. Highly...
Read moreThis place is beyond great! You're usually greeted by an employee standing outside of the food truck who will take your order and take payment on their tablet. Your food will take some time to be ready because they truly do cook to order, but I guarantee it's very well worth the wait. I would suggest ordering a sampler if it's your first time (pick 2-3 flavors). The meal comes with salad, you pick 1 of 2 dressings ( I always go for the poppy seed, but to each their own). Most of the time there's a line of people, so I suggest you plan to go with a great deal of patience and not so much hunger; (people get cranky when they're hungry) unless you can contain yourself. There's a few wooden tables/ benches but expect to share the table with others because again, they're food is so great, there's always people eating there. If sharing a table is not your thing, sit in your car and enjoy some ice cream while you wait for your food. They have different flavored ice cream, Mochi ice cream to be exact (google it). It's very tasty and will calm your hunger in the meanwhile. Once you get your food, enjoy it! You'd be glad you waited and will continue to make the drive to one of their locations for more. Oh, and they have a variety of drinks selections available (sodas and water). This place is one of the best shrimp places around the area, well worth...
