My wife and I had dinner here tonight. I ordered Spicy Beef ramen. My wife had the Spicy Tonkatsu ramen. The Spicy Beef ramen was ok. No spice whatsoever even tho the waitress asked twice of how we would like the heat. The options were MEDIUM or MORE. Whatever MORE is I assume it was suppose to be pretty spicy. It wasn’t. Same for my wife’s bowl. Other than the heatless bowl, the beef ramen was ok. My wife’s Spicy Tonkatsu ramen bowl however was not good. There was supposed to be to have slices of pork belly and there was none. Zero meat in it. The broth was cold and again no spice whatsoever. We went on to finish our meal and figure we ask the waitress if it’s suppose to have meat in it. She didnt even know the food there apparently. We ask is there suppose to have mean in the bowl. She said yes it’s beef or chicken bone. Well we didn’t ask about no bone or about the broth. I repeated my question. “Is the bowl suppose to have pork belly, pork meat, or any kind of meat at all?”. She kept saying no it supposed to have beef or chicken bone. I gave up and said thanks. She said was it good? I said it’s ok but was expecting pork belly meat in it. Clearly she didn’t know the menu or didn’t understand my question. We also ordered Takoyaki and that was actually good. Don’t think I’ll be back until they’re more established and straighten their kitchen and staff up. The waitress said they’ve only been open for a month. Oh and our meal came out about 30min after we ordered. Unacceptable. Great interior...
Read moreWe noticed Hokkaido had opened the last time we visited family and were excited to see the 4.9 rating. On the positive side, our waitress was very nice and friendly and there is a nice variety on the menu. The portion sizes portrayed in the pictures did not accurately reflect the portions we received. It is also one of the places where your party does not all get their food at the same time. It would be helpful to let people know.
Five of us chose hibachi style dishes and 3 of us chose noodles instead of rice based on a recommendation. We were told it was a unique item and it seemed like it was spaghetti noodles cooked in the same sauce as the rest of the hibachi. One of our party received rice instead of noodles, so he asked for noodles. It took a while to get them and they were cold when he got them. The white Yum Yum sauce is the only sauce you receive and you do not get salad or soup with your meal.
Another person ordered beef ramen and the beef was tough. Drinks were not refilled without us asking. Unfortunately the robot malfunctioned and it took them several minutes to get it back to the charging station. No one can help things like that, but I wish they could have muted it. It kept saying the same phrases repeatedly.
While the waitress did go over our ticket, we never actually saw it because it was on a...
Read more3.7 stars. 1st time to visit. Late family lunch on Labor Day. We were quickly greeted and seated. Shortly afterwards, a waitress brought us menus and then the next five minutes it was as if we were in a “no service zone”. Finally, Mary came by and took our drink and appetizer order.
We tried the Spring Roll ($5.95) which came four to an order and a Shrimp Tempura Roll ($7.50) which had five pieces. Unfortunately, neither of these were impressive or worth the price. Highly recommend you don’t order these.
Wife had the Spicy Teriyaki Chicken Ramen ($14.25) served mild. She felt it was bland and not impressive. There was no teriyaki flavor detectable. Our youngest son had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ($14.75) served medium with extra noodles (+$2). He said it was okay and commented there being a strange sweet taste. I had the Spicy Beef Ramen ($16.75) served fire spice level. Yes, it was spicy. Not painful but definitely got me sweating and my nose running. The meat was fall off the bone tender and broth super flavorful.
Decor is nice and does make you feel kind of like being in Tokyo. The food will need some work and service slightly tweaked as well. Overall, a decent first...
