For a grocery store BBQ joint, True Texas BBQ, part of H-E-B, is a solid local gemâespecially for the price point and portion sizes. It's definitely one of the better BBQ options in Hachie without breaking the bank.
The loaded baked potato is hands-down the star of the menuâmassive, flavorful, and worth coming back for again and again. On the flip side, I was let down by the brisket debris poâ boy. It looked promising in the menu photo but came up shortâscant on meat, dry, and lacking toppings. Wouldnât recommend that one.
Our tried-and-true order is the half-pound chopped brisket for $9.99âsuper tender and smoky, and easily enough for two adults to share.
Service is consistently warm and welcoming. A special shoutout to Rhonda, who always greets customers like family and remembers folks by name. She's a treasure!
Also, eating is outdoors only at this location (some others in the metroplex are indoors), and it gets pretty damn hot. I feel for the employees, and yet the service is always consistently kind.
Small tip: double-check your sauces before leaving the pickup window. Ours are often forgotten, and unfortunately, thereâs no option to purchase extra sauces if needed.
The self-serve kiosk is quick and user-friendly, and opting into text deals has saved us a few bucks here and there.
All in all, itâs a convenient, satisfying pit stopâespecially when youâre juggling errands or just need a break from shopping inside H-E-B. Not a destination BBQ joint, but a reliable local go-to when the...
Read moreI was originally excited to see HEB plans to expand and add a BBQ restaurant. I was a little disappointed to find out that that the restaurant was actually a container outside the store. However, I decided that it didnt really matter, as long as the bbq was good. My first trip was a disappointment, the menus, were confusing and hard to read with the glare from the sun on the screens. So i walked up to the windows and asked if i could just pay cash and was told that i could... all i had to do was stand in line to order my food, then woth reciept in hand go inside the store, stand in the grocery line, pay for my meal, then go back outside and show my receipt to the guys at the window. It just seemed a bit much for a sandwich. I got the sandwich, it was a lean cut, when i asked for the fatty cut. It was a small bun with 2 slices of meat on it. Each slice was about 1 inch wide snd about 3 inches long and extremely dry. Second time i went, i ordered the large sandwich and was disappointed again. I would rank the brisket quality in the bottom 10% of all the BBQ...
Read moreMy husband and I brought our three little ones to try out the bbq here today! We have to say that the staff were phenomenal! The food was also a huge hit with the kiddos.
I need to give giant props to the gentleman that was working today. Another customer was being quite belligerent with the staff and the gentleman working stayed kind and respectful the entire time. The other customer accused the staff of not supplying the food that they had ordered but the staff kindly showed that all food ordered was brought out and that there must have been a mistake while ordering at the kiosk as what they stated they had not received was not on the order ticket. The other customer was telling others not to order, that this place takes all the money and gives none of the food, and yet still the gentleman working kept his calm demeanor and dealt with the situation.
Our food came out in a timely manner and we had a wonderful experience having a family lunch out. Ignoring the incident with another customer we had a blast. Thanks again True Texas BBQ we...
