I want to start with saying something nice about the place first, butt unfortunately I donāt think we would go back there, ever. So we stayed in Maggie Valley, and we explored so many different towns, and places for lunch-brunch- diner, hikes etc. We went for a walk in Waynesville, just for another walk, and exploration in general, and our intention was to have a lunch at Sweet Onion, because the place was highly recommended, but unfortunately was Sunday, and the place was closed. We ended up walking around the Main Street of Waynesville, and we tried to decide where to have lunch, and we passed through this place several times, finally we decided that the place is very cute, unique, and we wanted to try it out, and we did. When we get there we were greeted from one of the staff, and it was nice approach. Then she gave us the many, and went to sit close to the window. So far, so good. I was happy when I noticed the fair pricing, and my son and I decided to try the hotdogs. Meanwhile something inside me was telling me to send my son to ask the girl if the size of the dogs were good size, and if one would be enough for one person, and the girl confirmed that one hotdog wouldnāt be enough for one person, so we decided to order two Memphis, style dogs, along with Italian, sandwich, and salad for my wife, with grilled chicken as add on. We placed the order, and this is where the good amount of waiting time began š”. I started exploring the whole place, because was so cute, and authentic, then I went to the bathroom, then out for more exploring, and the simple food order, wasnāt ready yet. I thought this is normal, and that we are going to get something really nice and special, because of all this time that passes, and the food wasnāt ready yet, with pretty empty place in general. Anyway, now the moment of truth, the food finally arrived, and my son and I immediately looked at each otherās amazed, the dogs were the size of my palm, tiny bread rolls, along with tiny frankfurters, little barbecue sauce, and super tiny slices of something that looked like bacon, super tiny, like a sheet of paper, and small. The sandwich was poorly made, barely pressed in the sandwich press, and still cold from inside, the size was kids size as well, so disappointing! My wifeās salad was served in a cardboard, but thatās fine, the place appears to be super green, which wasnāt that bad, bud the grilled chicken inside was super white, like straight out of the freezer, with some marks from some grill. Everything looked worse then a fast food chain, but the time it took them to prepare, two dogs, small sandwich, and pre-made salad, was equal to place that is actual restaurant. We wondered how is even possible to take that much of a time, for something that simple, and almost empty place. We left hungry, which is major red flag, and issue for us. With that being said, I will allow myself to give some recommendations. I think most of the people donāt care to pay a little bit more for good quality food, and for bigger portions, instead of never wanting to come back, like us. Going cheap is never a good recipe for making successful business, never. Iām not even sure if the pace deserves my 4 āØrating, but just because was cute, and the staff friendly, Iām giving it, other than that I would not recommend this place, unless they do something about it, and improve...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGot to check out the new & improved 828 Market this evening and it is awesome. I ordered the Jambon Brie sandwich to go. OMGā¦it was incredibly delicious. I picked up a huge homemade chocolate chip cookie for my husband (forgot to take a picture of it before he inhaled it), and a homemade oatmeal cream pie (real buttercream filling) for me (also inhaled). Next time I will try the homemade nutter butter cookie, without a doubt delicious as they were sold out of them this evening. While I waited for my sandwich, I checked out the wide variety of items available for sale. There was gourmet foods, sauces, jams, cheese, sausage, all sorts of beverages (including a nice selection of wines), pasta, and much more. Speaking of pasta, I am so excited to try the pimento cheese ravioli I bought. About three years ago I read about Melinaās pasta in a best of NC magazine article, but I would have had to drive to Raleigh to buy it at the farmerās market. Thanks 828 Market for bringing it to me! Thereās also a great selection of gift items (handmade soaps, candles, linens, puzzles, creams, etc) for you or a friend. I know where to go for the perfect host/hostess gift. The owners and their team have done a great job hand selecting their inventory and they believe in sourcing locally. Iāll be back and next time Iām bringing my husband for one of their āmarket dogsā. This wonderful establishment is not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am so sad. I saw the Chicken salad on door dash and thought it looked fantastic! I was so disappointed when I opened the box to find a yellow sandwich absolutely drenched in tumeric. The menu may be different in store but on doordash it says absolutely nothing about turmeric. Now granted it would have been fine if it had some tumeric in it but the dang sandwich had so much it was bright yellow! I mean it stained the bun. I actually had to wash off the chicken before remaking the chicken salad with dukes like the good lord intended it. (It could have had dukes in it I just couldn't taste it for all the tumeric!) It made me so sad because I wanted this to taste good! I really did! On another note. The pasta salad was absolutely superb! It was very nice and I knew exactly what I was getting! I'll be back to try something else again and hopefully change my stars! Edit: I'm not against flavor at all! I'm very exotic in my tastes! But this things was drenched! Which would be fine provided it was in the description. But thanks for saying...
