I hate to be writing this review. I really do enjoy the Cuban food, but there has to be something done about the wait times and customer service. I’ve been to Cuban guy many times in person, today I ordered through DoorDash this order took 2 hours to go 3 miles. These are the type of people that were making the Dasher (driver) wait over 30 minutes because they ran out of guava pastries. Imagine Making a driver wait that long for food when they have other orders to pick up. How inconsiderate and it speaks to the ethics of the owners or employees. Unfortunately, you lost a customer today, I know that may not mean a lot, but it just stinks when I hear that they were forcing someone who probably doesn’t make a ton of money to wait like that for their own mistake. Here is the kicker, after placing the order at 12:34pm I messaged the dasher on the app at 1:45 and told her if they do not have the pastries ready then to just leave. So I never got that item. Door dash is refusing to give me a full refund and only offering $16 back on a $50 order. Absolutely ridiculous.
Here’s a tip from working in the service industry, next time you’re out of an item contact a customer immediately and give them the option to either drop the item and get a refund for it or ask them if they would be comfortable waiting instead of leaving them in the dark, and then also forcing a delivery driver to wait when they have other deliveries to make in...
Read moreOnce upon a time they made amazing cuban sandwiches.
Today they brought out a rubbermaid tub of pre-assembled dry sandwiches, they used bread + butter pickle chips instead of the kosher dill slices they used to use, no mayo, the outside of the incredibly dry, dare I say possibly stale Cuban bread wasn't buttered before it was pressed, and it couldn't have been pressed because it still had that walk-in chill on it in the middle.
Also, the mojo pork was tender but didn't seem to be too mojo flavored, ham was scarce. I cannot believe there was no mayo.
$30 WASTED!!!
We tried calling in our take-out order and they put us on hold for 6 minutes, we called back and they answered but didn't say hello, just put the phone down, embarrassing.
We expected to show up and see a full lot and a line around the corner like 2019 but sadly we were the only ones there and it felt like they were in the weeds the whole time.
I can only assume they're going out of business and just hanging on by a thread until the lights go out or maybe there's new owners that've changed it...
Read moreWe were from the Raleigh area and wanted a local establishment for lunch. We stopped by The Cuban Guy and was very impressed. The hospitality was excellent. Ordered a Cubano Sandwich and it was fantastic. Generous sized sandwich, in fact my hubby and I ate half of ours and thought we could have shared but supporting a local business during the pandemic was important so they leftovers were a great thing. The sandwich was warm and cheese gooey, the pickle added a nice bite and the bread nice and crunchy. We can't wait to visit Waynesville again so we can eat here once again. The daughter-in-law chatted and recommended a nearby lake to see and the mother brought us Churros to try that were amazing. I also got a cheese pastry that was the best cream cheese pastry I have ever had. May this business continue to be blessed because their local charm is something often missed in...
