My wife and I have been to this location many times and have always received great service. However, we felt compelled to write a review because of the excellent service we received last night. We went there last night with both of our children and despite the tremendous amount of patronage at the location received friendly and fast service. We would like to recognize all the staff there but our interactions with two of the employees from last night will bring us back to this location in the future.
Natalie was the hostess and was absolutely swamped with requests for tables by both walk-ins and phone calls. We witnessed her deal with a pushy guest that had a reservation for 6:45 p.m., with class and patience. This man continuously came over and harassed her with the fact that he had a reservation and that they were waiting to be seated. Mind you, checking my watch at one of these interactions, I noted to my wife that the time was 6:40 and if his reservation was for 6:45 he was premature in his demands to be seated. However, Natalie politely continued to reassure him that they were working to get his table ready and it should only be a few more minutes till they would be seated. Her patience was mind boggling and I was astounded by it. Kudos to her for maintaining her cool. When we were finally slotted a table she made sure our table was clean and then walked us to the table starting our experience off on a great foot.
Next, I would like to recognize our server Colton. He was a very respectful man who came to our table with a upbeat attitude. He took our drink orders and appetizer order and upon returning to our table had not only the drinks but hot bread and dipping oil. My wife asked for butter and he was prompt in bringing that back in a quick fashion. We ordered our food and talked at the table while enjoying the bread and our appetizer that had been bought to the table. Colton continued to stop by and check on us and keep us updated on the status of our food which was very nice since they were swamped with customers. Our food arrived and was delicious as it has always been and Colton continued to check on us, even bringing drink refills without us prompting him to. Colton gave us top notch service from beginning to end and we are extremely grateful to his attentiveness throughout our meal.
We spoke with the manager last night and applauded his establishment and these 2 employees for their amazing service to us that night. My wife and I are firm believers that whether you experience great or terrible service the manager should be made aware. So we shared our great experience with the manager and told him that due to Natalie and Colton we would continue our patronage in the future.
Again we appreciate all the people that work behind the scenes to make and serve the food. Additionally, we would like to personally thank Natalie and Colton for the outstanding customer service and experience they provided us. Lastly, thank you for the great food and great atmosphere in which...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreArrived at 1pm on Wednesday December 23 with a party of 5 plus a toddler. One of the party was a 78 year old with a walker. The restaurant was fairly empty as expected in the middle of the week for a late lunch. We were told to wait just a minute. Then a minute later we were asked to wait outside or in our vehicles. Again, 78 year old that can hardly walk with a walker and baby with all the things necessary to take a baby somewhere. Bags, high chair, snacks, bottles. There was no one waiting around us. There were plenty of tables open. We went outside and left grandma in by herself. I went in about 5 min later and asked why we were waiting so long as there were plenty of tables. The response I got was the waiter just had several parties sat and needs to make sure they are all served. I asked if we could wait at our table and was told no. When we finally got to our table we waited until 3pm before our entrees were served. Again, the restaurant was fairly empty compared to normal. I got one glass of water and had to share with my toddler. It was empty before the soups and salads arrived and was not refilled for over 2 hours. We left by about 4pm. So we were at this restaurant from 1pm-4pm which is just ridiculous. Who wants to eat a 3 hour lunch on a Wednesday the day before Christmas? We had to beg to get our bill. We debated getting up and leaving to speed up the payment process. Or just staying another hour and ordering dinner. We are regulars for as long as they've been open. May not be headed back anytime soon. Even the pasta was way...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's become apparent that this place has fallen into the sea of mediocrity that most Bay Area restaurants reside. Food without taste and mediocre service is the order of the day as you get your cold, previously frozen shrimp scampi and your pale colored, frozen salmon served to you with cold asparagus. The bread was also tough and the dipping sauce mediocre tasting as well. I made the mistake of keeping it to eat for tomorrow as all restaurants have become overpriced.
The place wasn't excessively crowded and I now see why. This is another in a long list of restaurants that I will strike off the list.
The bottom line is that Carabas survives on it's corporate laurels, and clean outward appearance, not on providing a decent meal to its customers. On the inside, the place was poorly lit, had an odor to it and not particularly clean. You will be disappointed with any selection on the menu here as there are barely any items under $20 to $25. This company ought to be ashamed of itself charging the prices it does.
Thanks to residing in the land of "small government", making it cost prohibitive for competitors to open shop, this is what we are faced with. Still with that, this place is particularly bad for the price. Do your wallet a favor and don't go. This isn't the Carabbas of 2019, much less 2015 and before. It's better to cook at home or stop off at the myriad of fast food joints that this area...
