I'm giving it three stars instead of one because I can't honestly rate it low as I never had a chance to try the food. The food did look good but their method of seating and ordering (and their service) is not great. I went on a Friday night so ymmv with the crowd size.
The process is - you stand in line to order then you (apparently) get a seating assignment. There is no indicator of this anywhere (no signs, no person, no obvious indicators, etc.). This is different from every (seemingly) restaurant in the Clear Lake area which either has a host/hostess who seats you or "seat yourself" seating. So, if you have the entire family with you - kids, grandparents, whatever - they can either stand in the long line with you or sit down at a table where they will eventually be told to leave by a waitress who treats you like you violated some sacred code that was obvious.
Also, they will freeze the line when the place gets too full, apparently. Yet no one in the line realizes they are standing in a line that isn't doing anything as they are not informed. Personally, I would much rather be at a place that tells me I have a 30 minute wait than stand in an un-moving line for 30 minutes thinking it is supposed to be moving (this is frustrating).
Again, I'm sure the food is fine but if you're looking to relax on a Friday night after a week of work or school or whatever in the Clear Lake area, we have tons of superb options that don't involve this pre-eating mess (especially in the mall area). Most places in our area will have a beer on your table within 5-10 minutes of...
Read moreThis review is actually from Black Friday, the Super Bowl of Shopping - it seems that holiday shopping and hunger go hand in hand. I had the choice of a popular breakfast/brunch place next door that was packed wall-to-wall.
It was a good choice to do so. I ended up having a burger bowl, where I was given the option to have a base of brussels with the burger patty I chose. I ended up having the El Diablo as my "burger" and I added bacon for the crunch.
When the food arrived, it was filled with a bowl of "flaked" brussels. Imagine the brussels being peeled into a pile of "leaves". They were probably flashed fried because they were a bit oily when I ate them. I didn't know at the time that you can dress them with other specialty toppings, like grated parm, blue cheese, etc. Even though I asked them to be plain, at the very least, they could have been salted. No worries, I asked for salt and pepper. My friend who is a burger aficionado and likes his food boiling hot, made no complaints about his burger and fries, so that is a great endorsement of this place also.
My friend ordered fries which I tasted some of his shoestring potatoes and they were light and crispy - the ketchup was a perfect compliment. My burger was sufficiently salted and benefited from the cheese. My bill was somewhere in the neighborhood of $12-14. Would I go back to HopDoddy? sure. Make a special trip there? Maybe not. But if I'm in the neighborhood again,...
Read moreFirst let me begin by saying the burgers and fries are all really good. It's NOT the food that's the problem here. It's the LACK OF SERVICE that's the bigger problem. If you don't care for service, then yes come to this place because the burgers are good.
For a first timer, this place is very confusing. All the tables have numbers on them already. But you are supposed to order your food at the counter.
First they tell you to order your food at the counter. But they don't tell you that you have to pick your table number yourself first. When you order your food at the counter, they ask YOU what table number you're at. LIKE HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHERE I'LL BE SITTING WHEN I JUST ENTERED THE RESTAURANT!? this makes no sense. So walk around and find out where you wanna sit.
THEN when you try to order beer at the counter along with your food, they tell you that someone will take your order at your table. WELL WHY CAN'T I JUST ORDER MY DRINK WHILE I'M AT THE COUNTER WHILE YOU'RE RINGING ME UP!?? Again this makes no sense.
Soooo THEN you go to your table and someone brings you your food. Well nobody ever showed up at our table to get our drinks order. The girl that was supposed to be serving the tables was too busy socializing with her co-workers.
Well when we finally finished our burgers, she decided to come to our table and ask us how...
