I’ve heard good things about this establishment and their breakfast menu offerings so I decided to stop in this morning. There was no lines out the door like I’ve seen on the weekends. I asked for a table and got sat at this two top behind the hostess station that was higher than all the other tables maybe it was designed for Giants and fixed to the wall so I couldn’t move it away from me for more room. Very uncomfortable.
I sat patiently waiting for one of the numerous members of the wait staff to come get my drink order while I’ll study the menu. Minutes pasted, actually 15+, while other tables were served and attended to. Finally one of the hostess peaked her head around the corner and asked if I had been helped. I informed her I hadn’t and she offered to take my drink order, decided to just get a water and giver her my food order, the Shrimp and Grits.
Finally my designated waitress came over and said she would be helping me. When the food came to the table it was warm and looked good. But I’ll be honest with you the grits didn’t have the consistency of grits you typically see with Shrimp and Grits and some bites seems like they weren’t cooked or mixed well. The shrimp themselves looked barley cooked through. They were seasoned to hide the deficiencies of the dish ie over powering. At least the dish was warm.
So the waitress finally comes around and refills my water but instead of pouring from above the glass she put the pour lip of the pitcher in the glass and allowed the water level to get back over the pour lip, so now I’d be drinking with all the folks who got their waters refilled or more than likely was already doing so.
Maybe Monday’s aren’t their best days, maybe they had a new cook in the kitchen this morning but for all the hype I’ve heard about this establishment, it seems like a bunch of hot air. And if asked to go back I’d rather hit the snooze button on the alarm and...
Read moreMy wife and I went on a Saturday morning and the restaurant was very busy and loud. We were greeted at the door and placed on a waiting list. We were asked for a contact number. This is how we were notified that a table would be ready. I received a text stating that we have to download the Yelp app in order to see where we were in the queue. I didn't download the app as we were seated within a few minutes. As we were seated, we were instructed to use our cellphone to scan a QR code to access the menu. Brandon, our waiter, asked for our drink order and we chose regular coffee. After bringing our coffees, we gave him our food order. My wife and I chose 3 egg omelets with 3 choices of filling, and she added cheese for a dollar more. The breakfast comes with hash browns and your choice of toast. All of the food tasted very good! The omelets were a couple of the best we've tasted. One of the omelets was missing one of the fillers and we asked Brandon to just remove the charge of the cheese, but he did not do that. We had to request refills of coffee as it didn't appear that the cups are automatically refilled. We also had to ask for more cream after Brandon brought the coffee cup back to our table (yes, Brandon didn't return with a carafe of coffee; he took the cup and returned the cup with coffee, and did the same with the creamer). We had a couple of options to pay the check: use the Snooze recommended app or give your payment method to Brandon. The atmosphere was a typically busy eatery: the waitstaff was moving quite busily and the restaurant was very loud, enough so that my wife and I could not hear each other well. That's not a deal-breaker, just not our preference. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and Brandon's eagerness to wait on us. We would...
Read more5 out of 5 for good food 1 out of 5 for wait times. 3 out of 5 for staff
The food is worth the egregious wait for sure. I would say that the wait times are attributed to not enough staff possibly, or not educated on service industry staff maybe(?).
The seating hostess was not on her game, for sure. Our waiter was nice but missed a couple items, but made up for it in positive service.
My last visit we called ahead to ensure our party of six could be seated quickly. Even though we showed when we’re supposed to we were told we had a twenty-five minute wait still. However, we would not be seated for an hour and fifteen minutes later. Each time I would check it would be “five more minutes”. We had a party of six and kept watching parties of two or three slip in no problem immediately upon arrival, with no visible cordoning of space for my party. It wasn’t until after the hour mark and reminding one last time that we called ahead to reserve a space and how long we’ve waited that they finally gave the last “five minutes” and then sat us down to three tables with one being much higher than the other two. We asked for that table to be swapped with a lower table, we were told “of course”, but it never came.
Overall, the food and drink were amazing once it finally arrived. It was slow for both but good quality stuff for sure. I unfortunately will more than likely not be coming back though now knowing how incredibly slow it is to get served. It was great to experience the yumminess of snooze, but wasn’t worth the forced nap in between seating and serving.
