Marble Slab Creamery — Restaurant in Webster

The absolute worst experience I have ever had at this location. My family has visited this location many time over the past 15 years but after our latest experience we will never take our business back.

Our family of 5 entered the shop around 10pm on Friday. We opted to sit and eat our ice cream in the shop because we had 2 children with us.

Around 10:25 PM, one of the employees approached my family to inform us that the shop was closed and that we needed to leave. The employee continued to hover over my family. In a confused state, we started to clean up our mess. When we were not moving fast enough for the employee she again informed us that we needed to leave.

As we were leaving at 10:27 PM, 2 customers drove up and entered the shop. These customer being 2 adults were allowed to enter. When I drove back by the shop at 10:47 PM there were then 3 customers enjoying their ice cream in the shop.

For clarity, the signage next to the entry (picture included) indicated that this Marble Slab location closes at 11:00 PM on Fridays. Based on this experience it appears that this Marble Slab location has discriminatory practices against children. For what…being messy? Being kids? There is no other explanation why 20 minutes after we were told to leave because the shop was “closed” that there would be 3 adult customers (unrelated to the establishment) sitting in the shop enjoying their ice cream.

To make matters worse, they would not allow us to use the bathroom claiming it was out of order. There was no sign on the door indicating such status but there was a sign reinforcing that the bathroom was for...

We were visiting from out of town and wanted some ice cream. We decided to try a local place called the marble slab creamery in Webster Texas.

From the outside and initially walking in, everything seemed to be OK. However, the only person behind the counter did not look at us when we walked in. They did not acknowledge us. They did not say, welcome to the marble slab. They did not say we’ll be with you in a minute. They had their back turned to us and did not even acknowledge our existence. (We were 1st in line). After approximately five minutes of this employee with her back to us, and not saying a word or acknowledging us, I coughed very loudly intentionally. She did not even flinch. She didn’t say a word and she did not turn around. Finally, a few minutes later, another employee came from downstairs. We got our ice cream and left. They did not thank us for coming in. They did not say have a nice day. We just paid and walked out.

When we got in the car and tasted the ice cream, it was nasty. The ice cream itself had a weird aftertaste. I had hot fudge on mine that tasted nasty. It was nothing like anything I’ve ever tasted before. My friend had marshmallows in theirs that were hard as a rock and stale. The taste was so gross, we just threw the ice creams away.

Forget the fact that they barely spoke or understood English and we had to repeat our order multiple times to be understood.

I will never go back to this establishment, and I do not recommend anybody else ever go...

Upon entering the store, me and my friend were not greeted. We were ignored for about 5-10 minutes while 4 other employees were behind the counter. One employee was helping another customer, the second employee was refilling the toppings(which could have waited because the toppings weren’t empty), the third employee was on her phone, and the fourth employee who came up barely greeted us, washed her hands, drank her water, had a conversation with the third employee, then finally assisted us after I asked if we could get some service.

It was extremely uncomfortable as me and my friend watched as we were continuously ignored by the 3 employees who were not assisting customers. Also, the store was not busy by any stretch of the imagination. Furthermore, when we finally got our ice cream, it was already melting because it was so uncomfortably warm inside the building.

I am also a military veteran and any discount is definitely appreciated but their military discount was only $0.68 when my bill came up to $13.01. It appears that they only applied the discount to one item on my bill and not the entire bill. The service overall was very lackluster and extremely...
