First off, I would like to thank the server. She was new (something she repeated many times) but she did try. I gave two stars because the server's effort deserved one).
The table looked like it have been wiped with a dirty rag and you could see the leftover water marks. It left a greasy smudge when I ran my finger across it.
We ordered a lemonade for my son. The server came out a minute later with a glass of lemonade, indicating it was not made that day and she was worried it wouldn't taste fresh. We tried to be polite, so we agreed to try it. While syrupy, it didn't taste noticeably spoiled. We told her it was fine and then she indicates that they just got back from being closed for 2 weeks and things were a little hectic in the kitchen.
I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt so we ordered. She brought the shrimp Spring Rolls first and, after the first few bites, I noticed a musty smell overpowering the siracha and peanut sauce. I pulled the shrimp out of my spring roll and smelled it. This time it was definitely spoiled. We asked the waitress to send them back and told her they smelled old and musty. (Unfortunately my son, who had a bit of a sniffle and was somewhat congested, had eaten his entire roll and not realized it).
Before she takes the shrimp away she tells us they have no basil for my PHO. (yes, the irony of a Thai place being out of Basil...smh) I told her that was fine since there wasn't anything that could be done about it and she, again, makes the excuse that the owner hadn't restocked or gone shopping after returning from vacation.
Our food arrives, and my partner's Green Curry looks like its old and has almost completely separated. Again, not great texture , but it didn't seem spoiled. She doesn't usually complain, but she also mentioned the amount of meat in the dish seemed minimal.
My PHO, however, had a entirely musty smell. I was also served a jalapeno with a small spot of black rot on it as well an almost-dry lime wedge that was obviously cut several days ago. Suspiciously, there was some wilted basil on the little side plate. I asked the waitress where it came from and she simply responded, "oh, she found some," (yikes!). To round everything out, some of the beef in the soup tasted flavorless and chewy. I finished the meat and left 3/4 of the dish on the table.
My son ordered the Pad See Ew. It tasted fine for the most part, but left just a hint of a spoiled aftertaste. (honestly that could just be my mind playing tricks with me after all the other obvious issues)
I recall having a great experience the very first time I went nearly two years ago. It seems like they have been hit-or-miss in the few times since then. In truth, OM disappointed us worse this time than the the last visit and I was trying to give them a second chance. It's going to take a while before I feel like giving...

My husband, our three kids, and I went to Om Cooking for lunch recently. Initially, we were very pleased with the service. The waitress seemed accommodating, especially when we mentioned our kids wouldn’t each finish a full-sized 16oz boba drink. She kindly offered to split one into smaller portions, even suggesting two different flavors, which we greatly appreciated.
Our food arrived quickly, and we had no major complaints at first. The curry was flavorful, although I did find a joint in my beef—something I chose to overlook because the overall taste was good.
However, the positive experience shifted quickly when the bobas arrived. Instead of the smaller portions she had mentioned, we were served three full-sized 16oz bobas, each overflowing and priced at, according to the menu, $5 each. Although not ideal, we were willing to overlook this as well.
The real issue arose when we received our bill. Initially, the payment screen showed a total of $102, which seemed excessive given our order. Curious, I navigated back to the itemized receipt and discovered several unexpected charges. Our regular meals, listed as $16.50 and $14.95 on the menu, had been charged at nearly $20 each. The bobas were totaled at $30 rather than the expected $15. Most surprising was an unexplained $16 service charge.
When I questioned the waitress about these extra charges, her first reaction was to tell me, “Oh, it’s not supposed to be on that page,” implying I shouldn’t have seen the detailed breakdown. Upon further questioning, she explained that the service charge applied to groups of five or more. I’ve previously encountered service charges at restaurants, but typically only for larger parties, not for a family of five and certainly not without prior notice or clearly stated policies.
To make matters worse, this service charge wasn’t an automatic gratuity—it was an additional fee entirely separate from a tip. The lack of transparency, the inflated prices without notice, and the waitress’s dismissive handling of the situation left us feeling deceived and frustrated.
It’s disappointing because Om Cooking has potential with its flavorful dishes and initially attentive service. However, the unexplained price inflation, hidden service charges, and poor handling of customer inquiries significantly overshadowed the positive aspects of our visit. Had they been transparent and fair in pricing, they likely would have received a generous tip rather than this unfavorable review.
I rarely leave negative feedback, but I feel compelled to share our experience. Diners deserve clear and honest billing practices, and unfortunately, Om Cooking fell short of this basic...
Read moreMy husband and I are traveling through and decided to try Om Cooking for dinner since it is close to where we are staying. It was 6:30PM on Saturday October 14th when we walked in. The waitress asked immediately if we wanted to place a to-go order since they were closing soon. We figured maybe they were closing early, since it is posted everywhere they don't close until 8PM, but we weren't given the option to dine in. We're flexible people so we placed our order to take back at 6:32PM. We sat outside right next to the door since it was quietier to wait. A few minutes later, 2 seperate couples went inside and were given tables by another employee. We thought that was super strange. 2 more seperate couples came in over the next few minutes and both ended up leaving after talking to the waitress. Then the last 2 couples that showed up, must have places their orders to go as well. Shortly after 7PM the first couple that got sat had received their appetizers and entrees. By this time, we were super frustrated watching everything. 7:09PM comes around and we get up and go inside only to learn that our food had been sitting ready for who knows how long. No one came to tell us or give us our food, it just sat behind the counter while we waited for almost 40 minutes. The food was great at least. Would have been nice if it was warmer. But I don't know what the deal was. Not a great...
