We had a variety of main dish items: fish katsu, BBQ chicken, chicken katsu, BBQ beef, coconut shrimp. It all ranked somewhere between good and excellent. The bbq meats were juicy and well sauced/seasoned even with them being a thinner cut. The macaroni salad is amazing, I'd be happy with a full meal of just it by itself. The katsu items were fairly lightly breaded, in a good way, but they definitely need a dip. I would say make sure to ask for some yummy yummy sauce to go with your meal, it's deliciousness, especially with the katsu. The yummy yummy is also good with the white rice.
The only negatives I can really think of are the interior could use some more love. It is very loosely Hawaiian themed and feels a bit empty. Sound bounces around a lot inside. The menu is also a little thin at the moment, but the items they have are great, and who knows maybe they plan to add more over time.
The food tastes great, so I rank it 5 stars because that was what I came for and I'm happy when people try to add any form of food variety here in Wenatchee.
UPDATE: Went back after new ownership and new menu. The restaurant has many more options, including ramen! First place in town that I know of that serves it. We come back here regularly and have yet to be disappointed. The popcorn chicken has become a favorite as its made with dark meat and has a mildly spicy Asian kick. The macaroni salad carried over from the previous owners and it remains simple, creamy and delicious. We always make sure to order some. Any of the combo plates are very filling and all the meats are BBQ'd and seasoned perfectly.
If you tried this place when it first opened and didn't like it, try it again, I think you could be...
Read moreWe ordered (to-go) the teriyaki chicken and BBQ beef combo as well as the standard BBQ beef entree
The portions were great, and the ratio of veggies to meat to rice was perfect for my liking.
Chicken Teriyaki: tender dark meat chicken with a flavorful sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce. The chicken was juicy and cut into bite size pieces. I would absolutely order this again.
BBQ beef: the beef was tender and had a nice BBQ flavor. I still preferred the chicken, but it’s all personal preference. My boyfriend preferred the beef.
The veggies underneath absorbed all the juices and extra sauce. The cabbage still had a nice crunch/bite to it, which was a nice contrast to the soft and tender meat. The carrots and broccoli were cooked more soft, but were a great vessel for the extra sauce.
The rice was cooked well. Nothing incredibly special but was a classic necessity.
The Hawaiian Mac salad was delicious. Simple flavors of mayo, sugar, carrot, and a little vinegar. It was well dressed and not at all dry, retaining its moisture and creaminess. It was a refreshing accompaniment to the meat and rice.
The two extra sauces (one creamy, potentially mayo based, and one sticky and sweet) were unidentifiable to me but delicious nonetheless.
Overall, we devoured our portions, had a little leftovers, and are excited to go back.
$40 for our two meals (that we couldn’t finish, could have ordered less) after a generous tip for takeout. We will be...
Read moreI'm very picky when it comes to crab rangoons and I was pleasantly surprised that they were not only had green onion but the slight sweetness from the imitation crab. My s.o had the tawanese pork buns and they were very good I almost couldn't help but want to eat all of his appetizer. The tonkotusu ramen was earthy and fragrant unfortunately I filled up on the crab rangoons and green tea with strawberry popping boba. I was a little surprised at first they didn't have soda but to be honest I'm thankful they bring different flavors and new experience with things I haven't tried. Their service was attentive and kind. The mural was beautiful and the collection of fun kitties and fish plates are some of my favorite decorations. Whoever put it all together should be proud. I can tell they put a lot of work into everything including the menu. They truly care about what they are providing for the community and have listened that people want something new and fun. I will be returning to try their coconut shrimp and many other items they offer. (And more crab rangoons and strawberry...
