Buckle up, this is a long read. Went to Red Robin today as a special treat for my kids while in town. I almost didn’t because we had a really bad customer service experience last time, but that was at the height of the Covid so I thought we’d give them another shot. We went in and were told 15 to 20 minutes to wait for a table. Many people were leaving grumbling, but we thought we might as well wait, since going somewhere else would take time too. At this point, it was over 100 degrees outside (forecast to be 112), and there was no waiting inside the building, so we visited a shop, and 30 minutes later, we went back to get a status update and make sure they had my number right.
At this time, the friendly and obviously overwhelmed host told us it was actually going to be another 10-20 minutes. I mentioned that we were told 15-20, and that it had actually been 30, and he apologized and said their kitchen was really backed up. My 4 year old needed to go to the bathroom, so he allowed us to go back.
The women’s bathroom had the door propped open. One stall wasn’t working. I went into another, and it was out of toilet paper. We then walked back through, and counted. 4 tables in the entire dining area were occupied. 4 in the bar. Tons of empty space.
We left again to occupy the time since we couldn’t just stay and wait. Now it’s 109 outside. After another 30 minutes, we returned. A family of 8 was in front of us, and was told an hour wait, or to order to-go. They declined. I then asked about our table that we had now waited over and hour for, and they told me their manager had shut down indoor dining. No tables available for the foreseeable future. I asked if they were going to let us know that, and she said she had just gotten to the host area, and that she knew nothing about it. I restated what she told me, that there were no tables available and that they wouldn’t be seating anyone at all, and that we would not be able to wait any longer….we simply had no table and weren’t going to…and she said, yes. That is correct.
This is the point where I got upset. We had tried to be very patient. There were many workers working…there were 3 in the front entrance alone. 2 at the host area, 1 getting to-go orders ready.
So I walked out, with 3 super hungry kids,l who had been super patient, now upset that their favorite place didn’t want them there, and into the nasty heat, and went to Applebee’s. Who told us 25 minutes, but got us a table in 10.
I will never go back to that Red Robin again, and I will tell everyone I know to...
Read moreI would give 0 stars if I could. I had only been to this location once before, and the service and food was pretty bad (food was cold, fries were way overcooked and still cold) so I was pretty hesitant to go here when a group of friends wanted to go last night. Well we ended up going there anyways.
Probably waited a solid 10-15 minutes before even getting water. They had a good sized list of things they were out of, probably about 10 different items. So we get our water and order our food. They bring out some fries which quickly get eaten because we were all hungry and getting tired of waiting for our food. One friend couldn't get what he wanted to order (because it was one of the many things they didnt have) so he just had fries. They never brought out more fries, but eventually our food did come. We had 7 people and 3 of them had problems with their food. I paid $1.50 extra for sweet potatoes fries and they were cold as well.
The server comes back and we tell them we are ready for our bill. (Long waits in between seeing our server, way longer than normal/acceptable). At this point we are all getting pretty upset about the terrible service and food. The server couldn't remember who ordered what so we all had to individually tell him again what we ordered. At this point a manager comes over and tells us that we were being loud (and we may have slightly been, but we were pretty ticked off and just ready to get the hell out of there). And we tell them to bring our checks so we can pay and leave. The manager got super snooty towards a couple of the girls in our group and it escalated to a yelling match.
Once again we are BEGGING them to bring our checks at this point so we could pay and leave. Someone threatens to leave if they dont bring the check now. So the manager threatens to call the police and does. The waiter finally cashes us out, but doesnt bring us our copy of the receipt to tip and sign and they demand that we leave the restaurant. The police end up showing up and investigating. None of us got in trouble but they wanted to trespass us from the property. We assured them that it wasnt necessary we have no intentions of ever coming back to that restaraunt.
Sorry for the long story, but this is what a simple dinner with friends turned into.
Terrible service and food,...
Read moreI frequent here with my boyfriend because I really just like the fries and Red Robin overall. Before I continue, I want to mention that I’m a server myself and am familiar with restaurant etiquette. The service here is awful and I hate to complain because I understand how hard it is dealing with guests and working minimum wage. However, dining should be a somewhat professional experience where you get your money’s worth- especially if you go to a place like RR where they offer refills on some of their appetizers and a lot of their drinks for free. I’ve had this issue with one server and unfortunately I can never catch her name because some servers don’t introduce themselves there or wear name tags. But I get her frequently. Every time I interact with her, there’s no sense of friendliness, just a blank, frowning expression. Never offers us refills on drinks, fries, kids meals that offer bottomless, nothing. I’ve given her the benefit of the doubt when it has been busy in the past, but the last time I got here it was an hour before close and I was with a friend. We were her only table left and ordered mainly appetizers and didn’t plan on staying too long. The entire time we ate she just sat and watched us and continued to do so as we had empty fry baskets, water, etc. she literally wasn’t doing anything, not cleaning her section, not helping team members, nothing. It was a chore just to get her attention because she was on the other side of the room on her phone. I never feel like I can get my money’s worth here anymore and it sucks because I want to have a good time and eat what I’m paying for. I’m begging the GM, Shannon, to hire new people and train them properly. The service here has become a joke within the other restaurants in town and I...
