I think Baraboo has one of the weirdest Culver's locations out there...the staff is all teenagers who literally had to be ushered from the kitchen to behind the registers looking like a bunch of nervous sheep. The ordering was a pain but I am not about to pin that on a bunch of teenagers, I wouldn't want to spend my time behind a fast food counter either, especially at 19. I'm from Toronto, Canada so I'm not used to the ordering process at Culver's but man...all I wanted was a single butter burger with everything on it, cheese curds and a drink, but this kid either was having a hard time figuring out my order, or I was just a goofball who's order didn't make sense, either way he kept asking me if I wanted a single burger, and a "deluxe" meal or whatever. I guess I didn't say the right things. At any rate I got my meal and was actually disappointed...tasteless and bland, almost reminded me of Wendy's, and I enjoy Wendy's. The curds were...curds I guess. I remember this chain tasting better on previous trips before this. I am not sure if that is due to a change in source and therefore quality in ingredients allocated state-wide, or it's due to what I always think is the culprit, Baraboo is poo-poo. Not my first time at this location, either...years back, (a decade, yikes) my credit card payment did not go through after inserting and swiping, leading to the staff (again, teenagers) to take my card and hold it up in front of them, gawking at it like I was a time traveler from 70 years in the future...this happening whilst I insisted "I have cash guys, it's really not a big deal" multiple times, before they finally handed it back to me and took the paper bills from my outstretched hand. At least that time the food was worth it, I think.
The atmosphere was ok, sort of liminal and lonely, despite me dining with some friends.
Clean enough for a fast food joint I guess, no big complaints. Did not see the state of the washrooms, though.
All criticism aside, I don't expect excellence from any fast food workers, especially teenagers, it's a soulless, degrading job of drudgery and beeping and karens... But sometimes, it really makes you think. Probably will be avoiding this establishment...
Read moreA few weeks ago, I came here and ordered my food to go, got home, and realized it was messed up. What happened was, I had gotten a large cheese curd instead of a large French fry. Now I know normally that would be a good thing, but I had already gotten a family size cheese curd as well, so I didn't want anymore curds, I wanted the fries. And it's still very strange to me how that happened, because I saw with my own two eyes the cashier ringing up a large French fry, so maybe she messed up later on and I didn't see it, I have no idea. Long story short, I was pretty upset as I had already had a terrible day at work, so I called the corporate number to explain what happened. The next day, I get a call from the manager of the Culver's, (I believe his name is Dan) telling me that he's sorry that happened and that I'll be getting a letter in the mail with some coupons for free stuff, as well as the money for the large curd. A few days go by and I get the letter. In it was 7 dollars, a coupon for a free value basket, and a coupon for a free medium French fry. I want to say that I greatly appreciate the manager of this Culver's as well as all of the other employees. Yall are doing an excellent job. Even when they screwed up, they apologized and made it right. That's exactly what I'm looking for in an establishment like this. This Culver's has permanently earned my respect for how they handled...
Read moreBest service in fast food. The employees were all personable and clearly happy to be there. I can see why. The swiss mushroom burger arrived within 5 minutes without the soda that I thought was included. My mistake but they instantly brought one on the house. Congrats to management for empowering staff like that. Outstanding.
Comfortable, clean dining area and the booths had padded seats (get a clue BK and McD). All the food was served piping hot. My burger actually tasted like the meat's fresh and kept that way. Still an In n' Out Burger fan (grilled onions!) but Culver's is the best from a place like this. Had 2 slices of swiss, 2 slim patties (4 oz total, give or take), and ample mushrooms with nothing else in the bun (yay!). Ask for things like mayo when you order since the condiment table may not have any. Crinkle cut fries were good and loved the requested melted cheddar sauce for dipping. No velveeta in this Wisconsin house. Was too full for ice cream but will...
