Billy Goat Tavern Near United Center – A One-of-a-Kind Experience!

If you’re looking for a spot with character, great food, and a legendary Chicago vibe, Billy Goat Tavern near United Center is the place to be. The atmosphere is truly one of a kind—casual, nostalgic, and filled with local charm. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re stepping into a piece of Chicago history.

We ordered the combo, Italian beef, and the Curse Burger, and let’s just say—we left fully satisfied! The combo (Italian beef with Italian sausage) was juicy, packed with flavor, and had just the right amount of spice. The Italian beef alone was tender and dipped perfectly, making every bite better than the last. But the real star? The Curse Burger—a fun nod to Chicago sports lore, with a juicy, well-seasoned patty and all the right toppings to make it a must-try.

Whether you’re stopping by before a game or just craving some classic Chicago eats, Billy Goat Tavern delivers. Great food, a unique atmosphere, and a true Chicago...

Went here after a bulls game, I do enjoy the style of having a mini food shack in a bar, problem is the food just wasn't good to be fair. Ordered a burger and a dog. Hotdog tasted like something I'd make at home, it's okay but meh, the burger which i always heard was a hit was just bland like there was no seasoning on it. I would give this place 2 stars but there is a certain charm to it. I can say confidently that if i had a few alcoholic beverages and then had the burger while buzzed it'd probably taste a lot better. It's funny because as average as it tasted I'd probably still come back after a game, have a drink and then order something off the menu. I think that has to do specifically with the ambience of the place. prices were fair I'd say, I'd rather pay the money for food their than 14 for nachos at the UC. I think this place just left me wanting more and I might have to try it one more time to give it...

The guy calling out the orders is awesome!! He should be the bartender, great personality. The bartenders are not very friendly and spend every moment of their free time on their cell phones instead of engaging with the customers. Also we had our empty drinks on the well and the bartender took them off and walked away. We wanted another round, so we waited patiently for her to return. She never came back, but the guy bartender from the other side of the bar did come and serve us. So that part I do commend. Gail is awesome as well!!

I own a small bar in a small suburb, nothing spectacular. But I only hire bartenders with great personalities that can make the customers love coming there. Just my opinions here.

Also, the beef sandwich is way UNDERRATED!!

WOW, that was delicious. Right up there with Portillos,...

I won't get too much into history and story, its very well written on their website. But simply put, the CURSE was broken when Chicago Cubs won in 2016! Lets get to the food, they call it Cheeseborger. No lettuce and tomatoes, because the goat ate it. You get your fresh patty in kaiser Roll with just cheese and self service putting onions and dill pickles. I like putting grilled onion it instead of raw, and their spicy version burger was also really good, as you can see on the picture. It's just a perfect backyard type of burger with simple ingredients cooked well. Italian beef here is pretty standard, juicy beef and giadinara makes good combo, can't go wrong. It is Chicago's staple place with rich history, definitely worth a visit.

Not worth the price. I paid $6.01 for a dry and skinny egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich. I used to go to the location downtown on Wells and Van Buren before it closed and always got a moist, thick breakfast sandwich. Years later, I come here expecting the same and was sadly very disappointed. Dont waste your time or money buying their breakfast sandwiches. It should cost $3, not $6. The bread should have been buttered and I'm not sure if they used fresh eggs (I didn't watch him prepare the sandwich) or not like they did at the old place, but more eggs would have been nice. I'm biting into bacon more than anything else.

It’s a sports bar with a diner soul, and a bowling alley’s heartbeat. The place hums with energy, packed with a wildly mixed crowd that somehow all fits—postgame fans, solo regulars, late-night wanderers. The food is exactly what it should be: serviceable, comforting, unpretentious. A tightly stapled bag of fries. A Chicago dog that delivers. But the real reason to come is the experience. It’s loud, lived-in, and defiantly unshiny. No effort to corporate-polish the brand, and thank God for that. This is the kind of spot that’s still standing because it never had to change. The food’s fine. The vibe’s the point.
