Great little coffee and pastry shop. My Favs are the crossiants and vanilla bean cheesecake, and the honey lavender latte 💜 is always my go to. I've lived in Pilsen 25+ years, and unfortunately, Pilsen is not a very welcoming place, so read the negative reviews for what they really are, Latino activists who probably never set foot in the bakery and mad at the white world because their own parents sold their Pilsen real estate for big bucks to retire with. Unfortunately, even our alderman Byron Sigcho Lopez fosters this sentiment that unless your business is all about bringing in low-cost Latino housing to the Pilsen area you are frowned on and not supported as a business and for this lack of support you get the privilege of having your commercial property taxed to hell and back. I recently moved my business from Pilsen after 20 years because of all the BS I had to deal with in Pilsen, which had become quite awfully painful in the last few years. I hope and pray 🙏 that all the businesses of Pilsen can fight back against all the Aholes there and prosper. Good luck, and keep up...
Read moreA True Gem – Exceptional Service and Coffee at Bittersweet
Bittersweet Café is more than just a coffee shop—it’s an experience made unforgettable by the incredible service of Cici and Michelle. From the moment I walked in, their warm welcome and attentive, bilingual service made me feel instantly at home. They go above and beyond to ensure every customer feels seen, heard, and appreciated.
Their passion for quality shines through in every cup. The coffee is consistently rich, smooth, and perfectly crafted. Whether you’re a latte lover or espresso purist, you’ll taste the care in every sip. I was especially impressed by their unique menu offering—the ube croissant, which was not only visually stunning but absolutely delicious. A perfect balance of flaky, buttery pastry and subtly sweet ube flavor.
Cici and Michelle are the heart of Bittersweet, and their talent, kindness, and dedication make this café a must-visit. I can’t...

You could have said anything while we were waiting to put our order in… So how about you figure out what your policy is and put up a little sign to share with the rest of us. And if it’s because he’s a bully breed then everyone should know they are specifically not allowed. But if I need to tie up my dog to a poll outside so I can then go inside to buy him a 3 dollar pup cup - what’s the point. Treat your local regular...
