I'm basing this review purely on the rude and unprofessional behavior by one of the guy bartenders working on Friday on November 29. My cousin and I stopped in during the evening because we know estereo has a great tequila selection and we wanted to compare it to original location on Milwaukee. Everything was fine initially, we ordered cocktails with a lady bartender and they were decent but a bit too sweet. Soon after we started looking over the tequila options and we ordered a specific tequila with the guy bartender. He grabs a bottle and was about to pour and we told him that wasn't the tequila we ordered. He became visibly agitated and we stated we'll look at other options. We then decided on 2 options and he brought one the bottle over at which point we asked if we can look at it while he brought the other. He replied no which was odd since most establishments will place the bottle in front of you. I asked him why and he said because people will take extra pours. I then asked him do you really think we're about to pour drinks for ourselves and he went on about being told that was the policy. I told him forget it and cancel my order. As we're getting ready to leave I asked another guy bartender to cash us out I and took the opportunity to ask him if it was against policy to leave the bottle so people can check it out and he said no and that it was customary to do that. That was all I needed to hear, I explained to him what his coworker said and promptly left. Ultimately the rude bartender just seemed really young and probably just lacked experience. But it was just very off-putting and completely unnecessary since it was a slow night with not...
Read moreAtmosphere is cute, but there'll be a bouncer on thursdays - with 3 people in the bar - who will illegally not accept alternative forms of ID. He states "we only take a drivers license" and endoroses accepting passports when asked, but will not accept others.
For the reader's reference, other forms of legal ID for age verification to purchase alcohol in Illinois are: U.S. State-Issued Identification Card, U.S. Military Identification Card, Illinois Temporary Visitor Driver’s License, Permanent Resident Card, and Consular Identification Card. Our professional healthcare licenses also showcase our birthdates, and he likely would have denied that, despite them being legal documents.
Finally, the trend of bouncers denying entry to bars is something that needs to end. In busy bars, i understand; You need to ID patrons at the door to free up the bar tenders. However there were 3 individuals in this bar. It is not like some one is going to leap over the counter and begin chugging liquor. Adopt the wristband or handstamp motif!
Finally, the bouncer was rather rude to me after i politely asked what other forms of ID they accepted. Forgetting or losing a driver's license is a thing that happens; They're not stabled to our flesh. On this night, I'd arrived late to the area and assumed my party was present at this location. When i'd asked about my party - ONE member of which had forgotten their ID, so the bouncer denied ALL of them - he immediately became defensive for no reason. He also...
Read moreSuper sketchy place.. got there and the security guard kept repeating “it’s over with unless you give me something” he said he wanted cash, we refused and waited around, people began lining up and a bartender came around and told him to let people in. The security guard took my ID, walked away, and when I asked for my ID, security guard got super aggressive. Told me I was starting problems and I could say whatever I want, and refused to give my ID back. I told him I wanted no problems and was genuinely confused about what was happening, as I never expected him to take my ID and walk away and could barely understand what he was saying. We finally entered and when we told the bartender what had happened (same bartender who had spoken to him earlier, shorter gentleman with glasses and a black shirt) he didn’t seem to care, ignored everything we said and offered a free round. Told us that although they were over capacity, it’s nothing unusual for security to ask for something extra to get in. We took the round, paid for the remainder of our drinks, felt so uncomfortable and left. Cute place and good music, but definitely a side hustle going on that we wanted no part of. Shame on an establishment making guests feel like there was no safe person to turn to....
