Summary: Food was a mix of 3.5 to 5 star items. First impression was not great. Need to up hospitality and service for the price they’re charging. Disappointed this is part of the same Lyra family which is an absolute favorite.
Valet was easy and polite, walked into what started as excitement, particularly since receiving a text at 7:18PM (for a 7:30PM dinner reservation) that our table was ready (and yes I texted “1” to ensure we are close). Entered around 7:22, two people short in our party and were told we would have to wait as some tables were still clearing (shocking since the table ready now text). No problem, since technically we weren’t the full party yet and were early.
The bar area is beautiful, we have a Macallan 25 and a glass of champagne. Bar tender, Alex, was polite, attentive and welcoming. Felt genuinely grateful for our service as we decided at 7:45 and the rest of our party having been here that we would close our tab and to inquire since we thought maybe they had expected us to confirm full party was here. Now 15 mins past our dinner timing (nearly 30 mins after THEY sent a text saying table is ready), were told the same thing from beginning “some tables are clearing out and it will be a few more moments”. Initially we thought we didn’t have complete party and so they fed a bit of line about tables (bc why bother texting if table wasnt actually ready?). Looked around to see a lot of empty booths and bar high tops that would at minimum be a suggestion given the miscommunication, did offer when I inquired but mentioned that the dining room should be available, but still uncertain as to when exactly. Again, don’t pre-emptively communicate with patrons that tables are ready when they aren’t. And be more welcoming, offer the alternative solutions when people are being inconvenienced (again PARTICULARLY at this price point of establishment).
Like a few other commenters, I’ve read, just overall didn’t have welcoming vibe. Almost pulled the trigger to head around corner to the family of restaurants, excellent, LYRA, but got seared. The waitress was absolutely polite and attentive but did have to be reminded a few times about little sides, not huge deal. Didn’t have dark manhattan (despite a featured cocktail option), couldn’t bring over the Caesar salad cart (make / toss tableside Caesar salad) because mentioned was 30 mins behind schedule. Which after already waiting 20+ mins despite being told table was ready, did not want to delay this meal anymore. Bread service was fun (could be warmed bread), great display, tasty oil with parmesan. Food was hot and fresh; very tasty.
Upon leaving GM did ask how it went and I was honest and said not great. He inquired as to why, gave my pointed feedback and he just said “OK”. Clearly they don’t need my thousand dollar business so absolutely will not be returning.
Have some wood to chop on their ability to serve - also researched some other 1-star recent commentary that echos similar service / “snootiness” factor. Know that DineAmIc can and does represent a bit better than this and maybe why the hot expectations going in there … especially for a casual...
Read moreWe (2) arrived 5 mins before our reservation, the lobby area near the door was jam packed as a few larger parties were coming/going. After navigating crowd, I check in with the hostess in the black shirt and she was very dry and seemed almost irritated. I assumed it was the big crowd and busy dinner time. She escorts us to our table and I ask if we can wait for a different table because the one she took us to was in the middle of the floor, right in front of the kitchen, where there was a lot of traffic and management/server were lingering overhead. There were two booths right in front of this table and one was empty so I ask if we can go there and she says no because that specific table is reserved for a different party. No problem, I tell her we’ll wait for another table. We walk back to the front and wait, never seeing that hostess again. Then another woman (I assume a manager) asks if we’ve been helped and we explain that we have and our waiting for a booth away from the kitchen/staff hangout. The manager calls another hostess (red shirt) and she gets the menu and takes us to the booth black shirt told us we couldn’t have. We get seated. Our server comes and is amazing but then black shirt COMES BACK to the dining area to tell red shirt not to sit us there (we’re already seated with water and have ordered cocktails). They stand in front of our table discussing this for a few then walk away. It was all very awkward. We came for restaurant week and while our visit had a rough start, our phenomenal server and the food itself really redeemed the visit for us.
The octopus carpaccio was spectacular. I’ve never had anything like it but the flavor, presentation and texture really made for a beautifully tasty dish. The meatballs were good, but the baked clams really stole all of the attention and left us wanting more! The 7oz filet was cooked exactly as ordered, had a nice sear on the outside and a warm red center and was tender and juicy. The chicken parm was also really well prepared and flavorful. The chicken cutlets were fried to perfection and the marinara on top was perfectly balanced in terms of taste and texture. We ordered the broccoli but ended up with the brussel sprouts (shout out to our server) and they were delicious. Could have been shaved a little thinner but I’, really nit picking on that because they were really good. We couldn’t decide between the parmesan truffle fries and the mascarpone mashed so we got both and honestly, no regrets! Both were delicious! The tiramisu was ok, but we preferred the...
Read moreWas very disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I traveled to Chicago from Texas for our 1st wedding anniversary and chose Fioretta for our anniversary dinner. We had to wait over 20 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. Then, they tried to push us off to sitting in the bar area even though I requested eating in the dining area. Once we were sat, our waiter was not friendly at all. Seemed annoyed that he had to serve us. There was no real welcome or introduction, did not ask if it was our 1st time (which it was), if we had any questions on the menu, or any recommendations for meals or cocktails. The waiter was also assigned to the table next to us, and his demeanor was COMPLETELY different. He was upbeat and congratulated them on celebrating a birthday and anniversary. ( Could have been because it was a table of young beautiful women out to dinner). They corrected him and said they didn't have any anniversary at their table ( it was at ours) and he went off to get their drinks. When he returned to our table, he very nonchalantly said ," I guess I got the table wrong because you all were the ones celebrating an anniversary"( I mentioned this on the reservation. That was it. The focaccia bread "service" was a joke (cold bread in a box) and although we ordered the Ceasar salad, we weren't offered the tableside service. The table next to us though, did receive that. Our orders were placed, and my side dish was wrong. When I brought this to his attention, the waiter argued with me that it was what I ordered. Once he checked and realized he was wrong, it was too late to order another side as the kitchen was closed. It was only at this point that he apologized. The waiter claimed that " he would make it right" and thought he was doing us a favor by not charging us for the missed side dish (no favor there) and sending out a dessert (it seemed everyone celebrating something that night received the same "gesture" so again, nothing extraordinary) We were very underwhelmed and disappointed with the food AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the service. For a meal that was $300, this was completely unacceptable. I have been to restaurants who do not tout that they are "fine dining" and have received much more attention to detail and customer service. Don't waste your time...
