I would rate my experience 3.5 stars. This was my first omakase and I left feeling underwhelmed and still hungry (we got Taco Bell after lol).
We did the 17 piece course and it honestly felt very rushed the whole time. We were done within an hour. I understand it’s a timed reservation but I would’ve felt MUCH better about the overall experience if we were given 1.5 hours for the 17 piece course. I was expecting more interactions/engagement with the chef, such as explaining each piece more in depth about where it came from, the flavor profile, etc. However, he only explained what each piece was and if we liked it after each round; overall engagement was very limited. I don’t blame him at all, he was quite busy serving 6 people 102 pieces of fish within an hour…
After we were finished with the omakase, the chef offered a la carte pieces to order. When he got to our group, I said we were still deciding and he said “Well you don’t have much time left”. He said it in a friendly tone but that comment made me feel even more rushed and soured the experience that we didn't end up ordering anything additional. We were then asked to move to the couches to “have mochi” and check out. While we were waiting, a different staff member came up and asked us if we were ready to check out. We mentioned the mochi and she asked if we had ordered it already. We were confused because the first staff member made it seem like the mochi was included in our experience. It was overall just a very awkward and confusing interaction.
In regards to the quality, the fish was delicious and super fresh but the portions felt small. The ambiance and decor were amazing and we enjoyed our drinks.
Overall, I’m not sure I would revisit. We felt rushed the whole time that it dampened the experience. I think others would have a better experience if they came in with clear expectations that they would be done within an hour, so...
Read moreI visited this omakase restaurant for my boyfriend’s birthday, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Upon arriving, we sat at the bar and were immediately asked what our go-to drinks were before we even had a chance to look at the menu (we had wanted sake). I mentioned a vodka soda, and my boyfriend said old fashioned. Without confirming if we wanted drinks, the bartender started making them for us. When the drinks appeared to be done, we took them—only for the bartender to get upset because my boyfriend’s drink apparently wasn’t finished, lacking an orange peel. His attitude was unnecessary and off-putting.
The omakase itself was great, but what was advertised as an hour-long experience was rushed and only lasted 35 minutes. To top it off, we were asked to leave our seats and finish our drinks on the couches, which made us feel like we were being ushered out prematurely.
As it was my boyfriend’s birthday, I had mentioned it in the reservation notes, hoping the restaurant would do something to make it special. Instead, when the waitress acknowledged my note, we were given four mochi ice creams with a candle. Nice gesture, right? Wrong. When I got the bill, not only were we charged $20 for each drink we didn’t actually order, but we were also charged for the mochi ice cream! Most places offer a complimentary birthday treat or at least a drink, but here we were forced to pay for it all.
For an experience that only lasted 50 minutes and cost $300, we both left feeling disappointed and taken advantage of. It was supposed to be a special night, but the rushed service, unnecessary charges, and unprofessional behavior from the bartender completely...
