A day in my life living in West Loop!

Was very excited to have tea service and it was below expectations. We were charged $65+tax each and the food was not as they advertised it at all. They put a tier with 2 mediocre strawberries, a tiny cup with about 8 blueberries, 5 raspberries, 2 blackberries, about 7 green grapes and purple grapes, one cutie (tiny tangerine), two lame flat gas-station-looking cookies, four miniature macaroons, two miniature English muffins without butter or jam, two buns with maybe half spoon of mayo with maybe a cube of potato, two tiny one bite pieces of samon sandwiches and other dry flavorless “tea” sandwiches and two decent one bite cheesecake bites. I have been to other afternoon tea time and the finger food was not only adult size bites but the quality was decent, or good or excellent. Here the only one thing decent was the two 1”x1” salmon bites and the two cheesecake bites. Everything else was so disappointing and to be charged almost $75! Per person for this ONE tier! Also we had several times have to look for a waiter to bring table basics like milk for the tea or butter and jelly for the tiny and cold English muffin. I just want my money back. What a rip off.

Had breakfast here since I was staying in the Emily hotel. Upon entering the restaurant the woman behind the counter asked if we had reservations. We said no, and she sounded disgusted with us as she blurted out "so you're walk-ins?". Felt like my wife and I did something wrong just by walking into the restaurant. As for the food, I found I found it to be mediocre, nothing great (looked better than it tasted). The breakfast burrito lacked flavor and the coffee I was given had an odd taste to it. When I added cream to my coffee, these weird chunks floated to the surface, as if the creamer had curdled, though the coffee wasn't unusually hot(?). The waiter was good enough to replace the coffee, but after adding the creamer again, the floating chunks returned. All said, the food and service didn't warrant the price.

I came in here on a Monday night as a hotel guest, we made a reservation for 8:45 about an hour and 15 minutes before close. We were running a little behind as there was a festival on the surrounding streets. At around 8:55 as I was walking from the car, I received a call from the hostess to inform us that their restaurant closes promptly at 10pm and we would need to arrive soon for our reservation I let her know we were walking in and thought we would have plenty of time as I just wanted a nice quick meal. We walk in the front door of the hotel not knowing of the separate door and wait at a desk by the bar we wait about 5 minutes as the bartender is cleaning at the empty bar and watching us, he finally asks “did you need something?” I let him know I had a reservation and he asked us to go to the other desk. we get seated and with about two other couples in the restaurant, our server comes over obviously annoyed and asks us for our drink order I ordered a drink from the bar my two friends were fine with water. When she brings my drink, we put in our food order and order an appetizer. As she brings out our appetizer it’s 9:15 and informs us their kitchen and bar has begun closing and we would need to put in any other orders soon (after the hostess informed us it would be 10pm). Another man runs our food to our table and she comes over, doesn’t ask how our food is, only lets me know that I don’t have any more time to order and if I wanted another drink I can order it now. I declined and she walked away. As we were finishing up our meal we see a couple groups come into their restaurant as they serve them drinks at the bar and take their orders. I work in the service industry and it was abundantly clear this staff didn’t care about anything but leaving early because it “seemed slow”. They opened everything back up when people came in making it even more obvious that they were not supposed to be closing these areas in the first place. My sever came to end the meal asking how everything was and I let her know that we did pretty good given our time frame, she assured me there was no rush at all and I just agreed with her. As if they weren’t actively closing around us and telling us every step of the way they were closing soon. Every person interacted with here (besides my food runner) had no customer service skills and I wouldn’t come here for a welcoming environment! I wish she Introduced herself or that I asked so I could include...

Where do I begin...this was on of the most expensive , underwhelming experiences at a Chicago resteraunt I have ever had. We were in town for the Chris Brown concert and this place came up with decent reviews so we decide to check it out... we should have just passed. Our reservations were at 615 we were running late and called and they assured us that's fine we would be ok. Upon arrival the hostess was very dry and said you can sit over there so we walked to the table. Our server was Caity and her service was trash. She came over took drink orders and then brought them back and we proceeded to order food. I expressed to her I had a nut allergy and asked her what type of oil they used to fry and she said she would check and let me know. Most of us got the chicken sandwich and the others got burgers. The food took a lengthy amount of time to come out and when it did it wasn't our server who brought it out it was the kitchen staff a man who was reaching over everyone and not very pleasant. Now we didn't see the server again until we asked for checks. She never checked on us ,came back to let me know the food was safe to eat because of my allergy just nothing. The chicken sandwiches were horrible bland with no flavor, breading was so crispy you could cut the roof of your mouth and dry. Fries were cold as well. The burger bland and the cheese slices so thick and nasty they were barely melted. The bills finally came after a long wait and mine was $72.44 definitely overpriced and not worth the service or quality I received. We asked for the manager but he took forever to come to and we had to leave so we all just paid the bill. There was a 20% large party gratuity which Caity did not deserve at all because she did absolutely nothing and her service was non existent. I would like a refund for my food which is what I would have asked for had the manager came over and we had more time. On the way out there was no bye thank you for coming just stares from the hostess staff. This place is lacking quality, service and taste so skip it there is better out there for a fraction of the price. Raising canes chicken tastes way better then what we...

This is a review from Valentine’s Day.

Don’t waste your money.

The food and service here were awful. We had a reservation, were sat and ignored for 15 minutes, and at first sight of our server were told it was last call for food... She offered zero hospitality or recommendations and treated us like we were in the way. We saw her exactly 3 times.

Despite this being a Mexican menu none of the food tastes like Mexican food. My partner is Mexican and I’m lucky to be well traveled and versed in Mexican food. Almost everything was awful.

Ready for the breakdown?

We are not drinkers. Shouldn’t have to be to enjoy the place. There are exactly two n/a beverages on the menu. The jamaica was watered down like when your mom is trying to stretch a dollar at the end of a pay period. The horchata tasted like plain sweetened condensed milk, no cinnamon. The $8 tortillas were dry, cold, and cracked when served to us. The “octopus tostada” with “Mexican kimchi” was basically a soggy, messy pupusa with curtido, not “kimchi”.… the octopus was flavorless and hard. The mushroom tamal was nearly tasteless. The masa tasted stale and the “mushroom ragu” needed some sauciness and MSG- basically no flavor and I love a mushroom. The sunchokes were soggy in some pasty, wet, sweet green sauce. The roasted potatoes were flavorless and sauceless and undercooked- still raw in the middle. Basically like eating a plain raw potato. The short rib entree was almost inedible except for the 5 slices of meat. The peppers with it were reminiscent of sauerkraut. The scallop ceviche with gooseberries was actually super great. It was the only menu item that tasted good.

Our server never offered us a dessert menu, never asked if we wanted drink refills, and basically was absent the entire meal. The food runners were nicer than her.

Happy...
