So bummed … read the google reviews and ordered via door dash for delivery to hotel. Food arrived mostly warm (Yay) and mostly tasteless with NO utensils in spite of the request. The best part of the meal was the bread & provolone that i had to peel back from a hot mess of an eggplant parm. It was mushy and only seemed battered/fried at the ends if thats possible. The marinara sauce was served on the side (TY) was as generous as it was acidic (No TY) and the italian wedding lacked flavor … and I couldnt find the meatballs even after turning it upside down bc .. well despite the request there were NO utensils sent. So i drank some broth (literally took it to the head) ate 1/8 of the bread exterior w cheese dipped in too acidic marina n decided to enjoy the diet cokes that came nice and cold. The bread that came with the soup was hard as a rock which no biggie had more than enough bread to detach from the NOW deconstructed eggplant parm .
As a sandwich aficionado I read the reviews and felt inspired … i should have stuck with my go to first night in chicago doordash order - Small cherval.
This was an entire miss. Sorry Nonna… this was not a delightful experience for me
Oh .. and the chocolate chip cookie - also a miss. Definitely stayed in the oven a few mins too long.
I hope the play here isnt to serve the undesirable food to doordash customers bc we have access to...
Read moreI ordered via Grubhub. My main issues are that the items listed on the menu, do NOT and did not reflect what was actually received. I ordered the Italian sub. First, there was no way to eat it, because the bread so hard. Secondly it had whole caper berrys on it. Some were actually sliced, but 3 were whole! Who puts caper berrys on a sandwich and doesn’t bother listening that ingredient on the menu? It’s a pretty unusual item to begin with, and I am sure it catches many off guard. The sandwich also had sliced artichoke hearts on it. ALL items that come on a sandwich or in anything should be listed, as many people have food allergies and it’s just the responsible thing to do.
I also ordered the antipasti salad. SAME problem here. Not as big of a deal, but it too, had caper berrys on it, in addition to many other unlisted items. Definitely the place to go if you want to order something and be completely surprised when you receive it. Sadly for this restaurant, there are many other choices in Chicago.
I may have had a totally different review if I would have ordered other items from the menu, but I most likely will not be back here. I hope this restaurant does the right thing, and remakes their menu with complete...
Read morePerfect for a quick, casual lunch or dinner. Dine in, carry out, or delivery available. There’s a cute little patio with a communal table when Chicago’s finicky weather is cooperating :)
Recommendations: -PEPPERONI SLICE. I love bread so I like how the dough is thicker and soft almost like focaccia hehe and I like how their pepperoni is thick and not dinky flimsy. They can warm up the slice for you if you’re enjoying it there. -NONNA'S MEATBALL SUB. My favorite meatballs! Flavorful and tender. They don't skimp on the sandwich fillings here. -PORK BELLY PORCHETTA. A warm sammich with garlic aioli, pickled red onions, and arugula. So good! -CHOCOLATE CAKE. Same chocolate cake served at Formento's. It's exceptional. One bite and you'll understand. -Grab an OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIE and / or a CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE by the register. Large,...
