Good food. I ordered the b.y.o. omelet; choice of 3 toppings. Their house potatoes are awesome! The potatoes are big chunks and they come with peppers and onions that are also cut bigger than your average Potatoes O'Brian. The omelet was huge. I think it was 3 eggs! But I'm not sure on that. Anyway, it was huge and since I ate that whole omelet, I wasn't able to finish my house potatoes so I boxed them to take home. They will make a great side to any meat dinner because of how big the potatoes and veggies are cut up. I will pop them in the oven for a few minutes to heat up, NO microwave for them! I don't want rubber potatoes! Lol! Almost forgot... I ordered an English muffin with my omelet. I have never had an English muffin like this one. It was perfectly toasted and the surface was flat and smooth. The texture was awesome. It was much better than the regular ol' Thomas' English muffins. I don't get those anymore. I get the Bays, which are closer to the English muffins here at Stax. I wish I knew from where they get their English muffins. I would get those instead.
Since I was there on a Sunday, around 1pm, when it was crowded (every table and booth were filled up except for the one larger booth behind the hostess & register so we sat there), the wait time for the food seemed a bit too long. I normally don't like to wait so long for my food but for some reason, I didn't mind waiting. I guess the hustle and bustle of the whole place made it okay? 🤷😄 But more so because the food was well worth it. And the coffee was okay.
I came to this restaurant to eat before going to church for Adoration on Sunday, Oct. 17th. I was going to go to Windy City Cafe since it's right by the church but they insisted on me wearing a mask. I cannot wear a mask. I cannot breathe in a mask! Someone told me that when they went to Stax, they did not force anyone to wear a mask! It doesn't make sense to wear a mask at a restaurant since you're going to be eating anyway. I used to go to Windy City Cafe after Mass on Sundays but no more! From now on, I'll be coming here, to Stax after Mass for...
Read moreFood was okay, but my experience was terrible which made it not worth it. The restaurant closes at 3:30, so I went in at 2:45, which I know is close to close but it was a Sunday and I was still mindful of the time I should be out by. They started sweeping and mopping the main eating area at 3:00, causing the place to smell like cleaner. My partner went to the washroom and while he was in there cleaners came in and started banging on the bathroom door until he had to ask them to stop. At 3:15 (restaurant still isn't closed yet), I tried to use the bathroom and the cleaner told me no I wasn't allowed. I had to go to the Starbucks next door to use the bathroom. While we were finishing up 4 different people came over to clear stuff within 1 minute, and 3 of them asked if we needed anything else, while our bill was already on the table (this was 3:20), I understand they were closing, but there was still 3 other tables eating, I was just finishing up my drink at this point. This made us feel like they really just wanted us out of there. The 4th person to come over went to pour water, poured it too aggressively and spilled it all over the table, didn't say anything, walked away, and didn't grab us any napkins to clean it up. While we were settling up, I believe it was the FOH manager taking our payment, and to me we were being clear that we didn't have an enjoyable time, but she didn't ask us how our meals were (I've worked in the service industry a long time, and if a FOH manager is taking payment, they always ask how their meals were, especially if the customer is clearly not having the best time). I won't be returning personally, and I wouldn't recommend this spot when there are so many great...
Read moreI went here for their soft opening and went back the next day for their grand opening in order to make a fair review.
I am a big fan of their food, they really know how to do breakfast right. There are so many choices that, you can come here many times and get something every time, and each time will be just as delicious as the last.
We had the braised beef brisket benedict (sauteed with celery, carrots, & onions, with poached eggs & hollandaise sauce on an english muffin) with house potatoes, and the half pound angus burger (with lettuce, tomato, onion, pepper bacon, cheddar & tomato jam) with a side of fries on the first day. The braised beef brisket benedict was the favorite, and the half pound angus burger was a close 2nd.
On the second day, we had the prosciutto avocado benedict (two poached eggs & hollandaise sauce on an english muffin) with house potatoe,s and the meat wagon (chorizo, fire roasted tomatoes, poblano, queso fresco, topped with pico de gallo & chipotle. Both entrees are very popular and are served with house potatoes. Both are really good, again the prosciutto avocado benedict was the favorite.
Try the strawberry and orange juice, it's almost too pretty to drink!
Really loved the decor, it's a modern, bright, open space with an outdoor patio.
I would've given this restaurant 5 stars, except for one exception.
When we sat down on their opening day, I turned my coffee mug around and it had lipstick on it! It was there before I got there.
This was within the first hour on the first day that they were open to the public. Our waiter changed my coffee mug for me, but, this is not something I would expect from any restaurant, let...
