Shotgun Betty's — Restaurant in West Des Moines

Terrible experience. I was with 3 of my friends and one do my friends wasn’t feeling well from the alcohol she wasn’t super drunk or anything but felt she needed to puke, mind I was pretty sober and was with her all night so I knew she hadn’t had much to drink. We went into the bathroom and she was trying to puke and ended not being able to. We all proceeded to take turns to use the restroom when we heard a loud pounding on the door from a girl yelling at us to leave. There was a group of girls who said they worked there who said we needed to leave because my friend puked and was yelling at us to leave. One of my friends still needed to pee and they wouldn’t let her go after we asked nicely if one of our friends could pee before we left. 3 of us were quite and didn’t argue.I walked out didn’t say word but yet they looked me up and down and laughed. I never have felt so disrespected at a bar and we never knew u couldn’t puke if you needed to. This place and the owner are a joke. Being a well know national chain and having personally frequented the one in Scottsdale AZ regularly.. I was embarrassed for West Des Moines on this one. The bartenders are only concerned with serving their friends and the owner was busy giving all the young girls drinks and talking trash about the patrons. The girls with us laughed him off as a creeper and were told 'tough luck' by the bouncers when he wouldn't stop bothering them. When confronted, he had the bouncers escort our friends out because "he can discriminate as he wants". The bar is cool and the beer is cold, but the owner probably got bullied in every school he ever went to so used his family money to buy bouncers, girls and...

We were stuck in Des Moines for the weekend and looking for something to do! So we had dinner down the parking lot from Shotgun Betty’s. Then we met a couple who were heading there. Well, we followed along. And had one of the best nights we’ve had in a long time. The people were great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was better than I would have expected. Truck driver from Texas so I know country bars. We had a blast and will be back if and when in the area. Also, my wife lost a bracelet so I reached out to see if it was found. They looked for it, found it and even shipped it Home. Thank y’all so much for showing me there are good people all over...
