Smoothie King — Restaurant in West Des Moines

We are at the emergency room after trying to go to Smoothie King tonight. We ordered the little angel which contains NO Dairy, to my horror I turned around and my son is covered in hives. When we called they said we should have " just asked for an allergy Bowl because they use all bowls 10 or 12 times a day". We have been in there many times and have never seen anything called The Allergy bowl or that there could be that much cross-contamination. We obviously will never return but I wanted to make others aware of our experience.

I just wanted to follow up that we reached out to the store, we reached out to their management, we sent them a private message via Facebook. Nobody bothered to check to see if our child even lived, let alone if he was okay. This speaks volumes for the ethics driving this business. They left us with an emergency room bill, that prescription Bill and not even an apology. I have been going to this location for a few months now and the staff have been very polite. Unfortunately every time I return my smoothie progressively gets worse. Recently I have found a new favorite vegan smoothie - the nutty supergrain - but the last 4 times I have purchased this in the 32 OZ, it is the equivalent of icy banana mush. This evening I decided to give the smoothie a second chance, as I am vegan and smoothies tend to be a great meal replacement for me. But this evening it proved to be a mistake. Not only was my smoothie full of ice and banana chunks (which I have photos of) but it was made with whey protein. For those who don’t know, plant based protein and whey protein have very distinguishable tastes. Usually this small of an issue would not cause me to file a complaint, but I have a severe dairy allergy and will have abdomen pain for the next few days. We have been ordering acai bowls for quite some time now and they have always been our go to spot for our firm. The bowls are healthy and super tasty. However, the last 2 weeks that we have been getting these bowls, the quantity has been decreasing. Today I got a bowl that was filled only half way full including the toppings on the bowl. This thing cost $13 and I am only getting half a bowl now instead of a full bowl. I talked to a manager and he said that is how it is supposed to be and how it was supposed to be when I ordered them in the past. However, on smoothie kings website, the pictures of the bowl show the base above the crown and the toppings over flowing the bowl. That is why the cap is rounded to hold in the toppings. This is a clear misrepresentation on your website to how its "supposed" to be in person. Do not order the smoothie bowls, you will not get what you ordered on their website, you will only get about half of what is pictured on...
