The food and atmosphere were great. I'm leaving two stars because of the service. We didn't have a reservation and we're pretty much discouraged to put our name down by the hostess, but we still decided to stay and wait. We were able to get a table quick because we were sat at a tiny table for two -- my husband's legs barely fit. But, we did appreciate being sat quickly.
From there, our experience went downhill. Our server Katie B. was quite short and stern from the start. At first I didn't mind because it was a busy night and assumed she was just stressed, so of course I didn't want to add anymore to her plate. But as the night progressed, she continued to breeze right passed our table multiple times and would check on two other tables she was serving. We received half of our order, but were still waiting on my pasta. After 40 minutes, we finally flagged her down and when we asked about the pasta, she abruptly said " it's still on it's way" and walked off.
We had to flag her down again for a refill and when I brought up that we felt ignored, she said "I'm not ignoring you, you have everything you need so why would I need to check on you guys." She then walked up to other servers and started talking to them while staring at us. I felt bad for getting mad and bringing up being ignored so when the pasta came out, I tried to apologize but she said "I don't know why your apologizing because I did nothing wrong from the start" and then just deflected the entire situation and wouldn't acknowledge her lack of attention to our table. Though her other tables were bigger and it was just my husband and I, I couldn't help but notice every other table was a white family and we are a younger gay, Mexican couple.
In the end, she dropped off our check without saying anything and rolled her eyes when I said thank you. She was rude and didn't show any accountability for her unfair actions. Luckily the manager was kind when we called to let them know about the situation and they comped my pasta that came out late. But this put a pretty bad taste in our mouth, enough to probably...
Read moreI love this place—the waitstaff is super friendly and always make it better than it actually is! The atmosphere is incredible and really unique as it exudes pure Hollywood-Rocker chic… the Drinks are strong and the Bartenders are tough! Now about the food…. It’s spotty and uneven and really dependent on what you order— so much of it is really good and so much of it is really bad! Yet I keep going back because it’s one of those joints where you just can’t care that much! I’ve had some great steaks here! I’ve had some great sides! The spaghetti and meatballs is fantastic! The calamari sucks, the artichoke shouldn’t be on the menu, and there’s no reason that they can’t make good pizza because they can but they don’t! It’s sort of a big deal to get a reservation here when it really shouldn’t be— to be blunt, when I call and get a guy on the phone— it’s usually the same guy and I think he’s a manager or maître D, he always makes me feel special gives me a table acts like he’s moving some things around and look forward to seeing me… but somehow this is pretty consistent, when I get one of the women on the phone— they’re absolutely sold out and tell me to book 2 weeks in advance! When that happens, I usually just go in then within 20 minutes I sit down with a table! Some people might think that’s cool. I think they would do well to cut the attitude. They also don’t have a decent baguette, whichever Italian restaurant should have and they could easily enough accomplish this. Jones needs a better identity and Jones needs to understand who they are. Yeah they’re a Hollywood rocker bar that serves food into the very wee hours. But they also play it off as a little romantic fancy Schmanski, dark red leather booth restaurant…. I think they’re on to something with the latter. They just need to pay a little more attention to the food and menu. Despite all this negativity.— I will soon be back. I need this place a couple times a month! If you haven’t been, I highly...
Read moreIt’s unfortunate to have to give this place 1 star considering it’s a pretty cool spot. They have an awful policy that really ruined my and my friends’ experience and outlook of this place. We came in as a party of 4 and 2 of us wanted to eat while the other 2 wanted to potentially get an appetizer but mainly have drinks. The security who seems to have been hosting tonight, (he’s the bearded man who is usually security) said that in order for us to sit at a table, EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE PARTY MUST ORDER A FOOD ITEM. So if we all wanted pizza for example, we wouldn’t be able to order just that, we’d have to order 4 pizzas according to this policy or be forced to order other food items to meet this “minimum requirement.” This is the most ridiculous policy I’ve ever come across in a restaurant. They weren’t even busy, there were several tables open and it was past midnight so the kitchen was closing by 1am.
This truly made us feel uncomfortable and put us between a rock and a hard place trying to decide how to accommodate one another. Ultimately, we chose to go elsewhere. It’s so unfortunate that this place put us in this position after we’ve been coming for years and have never been introduced to this ridiculous rule! They truly haven’t been the same since they had that incident where a car crashed into the restaurant and they had to close for some time and renovate. They seem to be enforcing awful policies like these to make up their losses and boost their sales by trying manipulate guests into ordering more food than they desire. I’ve been in the food and beverage industry for 15 years and quite frankly, this is not the way to go about it! They’ve just lost me and my friends as loyal customers, as there are so many options available that don’t practice guest manipulation through policy. And if they lost us, they’ve likely lost several others as well. This policy should truly be reconsidered by those in positions...
