Alright hate to do this but had a truly awful time here. Came with a group of 7 and we were seated within 10 min of our reservation, awesome. Ordered our drinks and they came and were good. Ordered our appetizers and then waited for 30 min for them, meanwhile we ordered our entrees. Then when our entrees came about another 30 min later, everyone was served their meal except for me. I ordered the lobster enchiladas and the waiter came to check on us and I told her my food never came. She went to go check on it and came back another 10 min later to tell me that the kitchen didn't get that part of the order correct and they are going to whip it up real quick for me and did apologize for this. Well another 30 min goes by and our group asks for the check. I nibbled on other people's food in the mean time. The check comes and my food finally comes. I said we're done eating and they say we'll box it up for you. It was obvious that the restaurant was having a lot of issues even though there were only about fifteen tables seated and more than enough staff running around in panic mode. So I just sucked it up and accepted the food to go. When our check came and we split it four ways it came in a weird split that resulted in one person paying more than the others but again, with all the chaos we just wanted to get out of there.
The food was not great and the service really should have dropped my meal from the check and there was no expression that the restaurant messed this up. They acted like we have to just deal with however they were operating and in the end I happily provided my meal that came over an hour from when I ordered it and having to watch all my friends eat while I wait on it to an aggressive person right outside the restaurant saying he's starving and we don't look like we need the food.
All in all my reviews are probably averaging 4.5 on Google and this was unfortunately a really terrible dining experience that I wish I could have forgotten about...
Read moreGot to be honest... the service here is still top notch, but the place itself is sadly not what it used to be. Turns out, it changed hands a few months ago and the new management has really taken a dump on what was once a good thing. I guess their plan now is to tank the place and put it out of business by 2024. I give them 2 years at best with the changes they've made. They're trying to get greedy with it. They're now the only Mexican restaurant in town to not only charge for chips and salsa, but to over charge for chips and salsa. They've slashed their menu and taken a bunch of really good options and whittled them down to a few singular options that can't be altered for food allergies, personal dislikes or other variations. In this case, their rice now comes pre-made with tomatoes in them. There is no white rice option anymore, or the delicious cilantro rice. It's just tomato rice now. Gross. They've gotten rid of the wonderful tortilla bowls and replaced them with a cold ceramic bowl. In fact, they've thrown out a lot of good things that made this place great. They've cut their happy hour from 3-7 every day to 4-6 on the weekends. The staff is still trying to get by, and you can tell they don't like the new changes either. They worked hard to make us happy, but I've never heard staff apologize for the management so much before, and they're right to. Unless this management can come to realize what a good thing they wrecked when they bought it, and then go back to it being good again, I'm pretty sure I won't be coming back. If they continue on their bad path, then I look forward to what gets built there in 2 years when this closes and becomes...

There’s no way around this: the stylishly located Sunset Strip location of The Pink Taco is no match for its tangentially related Las Vegas Pink Taco location, located in The Hard Rock Casino. (A Pink Taco in The Hard Rock. Oy).
At least with regard to the dishes. I could probably start with the fact that LV Pink Taco’s bacon wrapped jalapenos are far better, because they actually exist. Also, LV’s Pink Tacos are actually pink, quashing some of the obviously salacious reason for the name. LV’s pink tacos are also more expertly presented and prepared.
That said, the SS Pink Taco offers so much of what you value CALMEX for - fresh tortillas and savory meats, lots of green chili, silky smooth not-quite-crushed refried beans, and dynamite drinks. Also, never forget the SoCal evening air for outdoor dining, unrivaled by most of Planet Earth; even on a Wednesday evening, the place was convivial and inviting with lots to see (but you’ll pay $10 for parking).
The service is friendly and knowledgeable, offered by attractive SoCal men and women.
We had the eponymous pink tacos and they are excellent, and I’m guessing one of them is about 300 calories, so this dieter ate only one and took the other two home for someone else to eat. The tortilla chips were thick and reasonably tasty - have 4, loaded up with their excellent salsa, and stop there.
It is good? Yes it is. Is it worth it? Well, the LV Pink Taco has better food and lots of free parking but is located in a casino. The SS Pink Taco is more of an experience in and of itself and would be big fun with unlimited calorie and cash budgets.
