I went w/my sister and our 2 sons - a 10 mth old and a 2 year old to dinner at Pho Bien. This was a treat for us to take 1 out of our 3 kids with us. We arrived around 8:20 pm, Saturday night for dinner and was seated at a table. It appeared that we had just missed the dinner rush and there were patrons occupying 2 booths and 2 tables.
We waited for almost 15 mins before the waiter who happen to be the Host to take our order. We received our appetizers and smoothies and the waiter didn't return to our table to check back if everything was okay. In the mean time, a couple and a family arrived for dinner. Our waiter/host was catering to the new walk-in's, I managed to get the waiter's attention by waving him down, He finally returned to our table and we told him that the Apple Custard smoothie, tastes like plain vanilla, instead of offering to go make another smoothie or asking my sister if she would like a different drink, the waiter told us that's how that drink tastes because it's a custard flavor and walked away.
Then, our pho arrived and we immediately noticed that one of the soups didn't have egg noodles as requested when we initially ordered our food, so we tell the waiter and he says he will not charge us the extra .75, since it was made w/vermicelli noodle. The waiter never offered, to have the pho made w/the correct noodles or apologize.
Keep in mind we are with 2 little kids, who's attention span is pretty much non-existent, we're are trying to keep them entertained while still waiting for the bean sprouts, basil, and lime which is normally served with pho. Our waiter is seating a family who just walked in, and I kindly remind him that we are waiting for our bean sprouts, He says okay and walks back to the front counter, and then to the back where the kitchen is. I waved to the other waiter if we can get the bean sprouts platter that suppose to come with our soup and he says, "yeah, okay...."
I'm starting to get annoyed by the whole situation, that could've easily been taken cared of, if these servers were doing their job correctly and trained on the basic etiquette of waiting tables. Our waiter returns from the back without our bean sprouts, proceeds to the front to go seat a couple who just walked in.
By now, our kids are irritated and want to leave. I remind the waiter after he seats the couple at a booth across from our table that we're still waiting for our bean sprouts, the waiter turns to the other waiter and says something in vietnamese and the other waiter walks to the back returns w/a tea kettle for the couple who was just seated and a platter w/bean sprouts and leaves it at their booth and I tell that waiter what happened to our table's bean sprouts? The waiter shrugs his shoulder. By now, my sister and I - are furious at how we've been served by the waiters, we both get up to leave and tell our waiter/host we're not paying for our food.
The waiter/host tells us, we need to wait and speak to the Owner. The Owner quickly comes to the front and tells us he cannot cancel our order, we need to pay something...and that he could give us 50% off of our entire order. My sister and I agreed to pay for the dishes we did eat which was 1 smoothie, 2 appetizers, and 1 dish. We were at Pho Bien Hoa, just under an hour and felt under-served, disregarded, and ripped off.
I've dined at this same location in the past with my family and have had pleasant dining experiences until last night. After re-visiting the whole fiasco of it all...I am sorely disappointed that no one at Pho Bien Hoa acknowledged how poor their service was and even the food that didn't get served correctly. They've lost my business along with all my families and friends and I will continue to share how horrible Pho Bien Hoa's service is. The Owner didn't even apologize for the lack of service and mistakes that occurred. Please train your staff about proper customer service! I wouldn't give them a star rating, if that...
Read moreI used to go here for pho soup, because it was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately my last two experiences here were not good! my last visit with some of my family members, there was a total of 7 of us. After we ate, I went up to the cashier to pay for our food which came out to a lil over $90! I was okay with that, but didn't know that a 15% gratuity was added. My sister had left a $15 tip on the table and asked me to get a receipt and make sure they didn't charge a tip on there. I found it kinda funny that the cashier didn't even offer a receipt after I paid with cash. After we walked out the restaurant, I went back in and asked the cashier for a receipt. When he handed it to me, one of the other waitresses was walking back from our table with the tip my sister left on the table and they were all smiling! (That kind of smile like they were happy they got tipped twice!) đĄđĄ when I pointed out the gratuity charge on my receipt and told the cashier that my sister also left a tip on the table he then pretended to be shocked and said its common for restaurants to add a gratuity to the ticket when there's more than 10 people. I told him that there was only 7 of us and that they knew a tip was left on the table!! His apology didn't seem sincere and for this reason I will never go there again. On another occasion, my husband and I came here with my dad for pho soup. My dad (an elderly man) went up and paid for our food, when he came back he asked me why it costs so much. I went up and asked the cashier for a receipt and it seemed a little off to me that our food costs almost $60 just for the 3 of us! I saw some items were added on our receipt that we never ordered and pointed this out to the cashier. He immediately said he thought we ordered it and I told him if we did, we didn't get it! Dishonesty and greed will shut a business down real quick! Which I have noticed is common in Asian businesses. Not all, but a good majority of them are very greedy when it comes to money! So I would suggest paying close attention to your receipt and make sure you get what you pay for! As for the service, it's okay. They'll give you water when they seat you and then once you get your food, they never come back to check on you unless you wave them down that you need something. They really need to practice their people skills and get it together!! Never ever going here again, and won't ever recommend them to anyone just because of their...
Read moreMy husband and I were in the mood for Pho so we came to this location remembering it being good when we would come previously. This visit, we ended up walking out not happy with our decision to go there. Not only could my husband not eat his Vermicelli due to it lacking any flavor and the pork and vegetables in it being bad. But also the side of rice they served us was old and the spring rolls were dry. When we mentioned these issues to our waitress, we never had any manager or shift leader come out to discuss what happened. When we got our receipt, we seen that we were still charged for my husbands plate even though he didnât eat it. When we asked why it was still charged even with it being bad, she said the owner, that was in the back the whole time, wouldnât allow her to remove it from our check. To add, we had our waters empty for a while with no one coming to fill them up, and no one coming to ask how we were doing. We donât recommend this place to anyone that wants Pho or Vermicelli dishes, youâre better off to try somewhere else or just order pizza at this point. We hope the little bit of meat that my husband ate wonât make him sick, but now we have to wait and see. Very disappointed with Pho Bien Hoa and the employees after this visit and we wonât be returning again.
Response to ownerâŠ. First, if your company has âcamera footageâ please check again because I PROMISE nobody came by âmore than four timesâ sounds like you guys are just trying to cover yourselves from the truth. Nothing honest about that. The only times anybody came by our table was to take our order, bring our food and offer us boxes to go. Second, âemptyâ means NOTHING in the bowl, ask our server, Beam, she took back a nearly full bowl of bad vermicelli. My Pho was OK until it made me sick and I ended up throwing it up, the rice was NOT âfresh to orderâ Let me also remind your company, TIPS ARE NOT REQUIRED. My husband and I usually give great tips when we go out to eat, when itâs deserved. We felt in this case it was not as we didnât have a full glass of water most of our seating time, and nobody would come by our table. If you already expected my review, maybe you should serve better food. Iâll post a picture of our receipt to show how the âdiscountâ was...
