First time at the Flats. I was a bit leery in eating at Tijuana Flats because I lived in San Diego and right across the border was Tijuana. My wife and I went occasionally for dinner or drinks. The food has always been exceptional, especially if you eat on the street. Now you can understand my cautiousness. I have to admit that the server who took our order was very polite and took her time to get our orders correct, I thought we took long but she was very patient. We ordered a few different items chicken, shrimp, taco salad, all tasted very well and the salad was fresh and crispy. The chips were fresh. I believe that the oil was right at the tip of changing so the chips wasn’t bad, but it just started tasting a little bit oil compromised. We also ordered some churros with the chocolate sauce. This was my big disappointment the chocolate sauce I don’t think had chocolate. I think it was just some chocolate flavored sauce. In other words it was not good. Overall, the food was good and I will definitely go back 👍🏽👍🏽

Working while in town and decided to stop by. I’m familiar with the establishment so I knew what to expect. They had a couple new items on the menu so I would give them a shot. They have three new salsa’s their regular, a medium chipotle and a hot habanero. I decided on trying the habanero after I asked if it was HOT and the girl didn’t know. Me usually these “HOT” at these establishments are not that hot and I was correct. It did have a kick most would think is too hot. It was also a little runny and not a salsa. I would have been better off grabbing the medium chipotle for the texture and grabbing something to add some heat. Lesson learned. My wife grabbed some queso. We also got three beef hard shell tacos each and a bag of chips and salsa. They were the real highlight. Looked good and definitely good portions of beef and toppings each. I’d recommend this but I’d avoid the “hot” runny habanero and do as I suggested. Party on.

Casual find a table, order at counter joint. Food is brought to your table. Many choices of hot sauce including one named mofo. Hard to see the place from the main road making it a bit tricky to drive here. Food was very average to me and nothing to write home about. I ordered the fish tacos and the fish consisted of fried pellets buried under lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, jalapeño peppers and shredded cheese. The taco shells were on the large size. There was beer on the menu which may be a plus for those that desire alcohol.

Went in because of reviews for other burrito places saying Tijuana Flats was better, they couldn't have been more wrong.

First off, it took nearly 30 minutes for one burrito. Others waiting for their orders sounded like they were ready to walk out over the time it was taking for orders to come out.

Next is that Tijuana Flats, on their website, describe their chicken burritos as being made with chicken tinga; if it is, then it's the worst tinga I have ever had in my life. There was absolutely no flavor at all for chicken that had supposedly been cooked/marinated in any kind of chipotle sauce.

The chips, which were included unlike other similar restaurants, were burnt and tasted as if they had been fried in oil well past the point that it should have been changed out.

There was only one girl working behind the register and running out orders during lunchtime hours, something that as a food service veteran myself find absolutely unforgivable even with the short staffed nature of the current industry.

I would be more willing to eat at restaurants that I have successfully managed to personally boycott for almost a decade before I ever give Tijuana Flats another go, even if they were to offer me free food.

Note: This is a review for one location alone. After my experience at this location, I am unwilling to give any other locations a try.

TLDR: Bad quality, bad service, will not...

Today’s visit was my first. The lady who took my order was very nice and friendly. Food came out quick and was very good. Unfortunately I asked a different young lady with 2 long thin ponytails for a refill of my beverage since the beverages are located behind the counter. When I asked her she gave me the most rotten look I’ve ever seen. I must’ve somehow inconvenienced her by asking her to fulfill one of her responsibilities. When she refilled my sweet tea she slammed it down so hard on the counter with such attitude that it spilled all over the place including soaking the cup itself. She then mumbled something in an unpleasant tone, grabbed some paper towel and wiped up the mess on the counter and pushed the soaking wet cup across the counter to me with another rotten look on her face. Two minutes prior I was saying how I really enjoyed my visit and that I will be returning. That is no longer the case. I do not wish to have any dealings with this miserable young...
