I really wanted to like this hotel but it just wasn't that great, I had a lot of issues. I stayed in room 226 BTW.
First off, the shower is terribly designed. It has a glass door that allows water to seep out onto the floor. On top of that, the drain is awful and gets clogged easily. There's no easy way to clean out the drain either, the actual drain is hidden by a metal bar that you would need to lift up to access. Each day the shower took longer and longer to drain and filled up more and more during my shower. I even had to stop my shower and let it drain in order to not let the shower overflow onto the floor.
I did notify staff about the shower leaking and was just told "sorry" and that they were ordering a part for it but they didn't offer to switch me rooms or anything so I didn't bring up any additional issues while I was there because I felt like nothing would happen.
Second, the pool was freezing cold. I know that Florida gets hot but the pool is open into the evening so it seems like it should be warmer so you can swim the entire time it's open.
Third, the floor had some dirt and staining on it. This is a BRAND NEW hotel (I heard it's been open for 3 months) and there are already stains on the floor which is bizarre. I've been in hotels that are way older and don't have nasty marks on the floor. I know that my room was serviced by housekeeping at least twice because I came back to a remade bed twice but they did not attempt to clean the floor very well.
Fourth, housekeeping staff needs to be retrained on proper procedures on safety. I had issues with my key one day and a housekeeping staff member let me into my room without asking for any proof that I was staying in that room. It seemed like a nice thing to do at the time but later I realized that she could have let ANYONE into my room. I did not keep anything of value in my room when I wasn't there for the rest of my trip.
I also echo what another review said about the frosted glass bathroom door being a poor design choice. I wouldn't share a room here with anyone who hasn't seen me naked lol.
There were some good things about my stay though. Breakfast was great. They had a good variety and some menu items rotated out. They always had a waffle station, oatmeal, cereal, various breads/muffins/bagels, yogurt, and boiled eggs. Other menu items that popped in and out were egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches, folded eggs with cheese (sorta like a omelet), mixed fruit cups, sausage, and bacon. They had coffee and tea available as well as a few juices, water, and milk.
I also thought that hotel staff was quite friendly.
Furniture was comfortable and there was plenty of seating in the room. A lot of hotel rooms only have a bed and a crappy desk chair but this room had a bed, a nice desk chair, and a large sofa. I had plenty of room to spread out comfortably.
I liked all the USB (both regular and USB-C) in the outlets. I could charge my phone easily from wherever I was spending time in the room.
I live 1000 miles away and was only in town to deal with my grandfather's estate after he passed so I don't think I'll ever have a reason to stay in Melbourne/Palm Bay again but even if I did, I think I'd...
Read moreThe staff were friendly and welcoming, including the gentleman at check-in, the cleaning staff, and the breakfast attendant.
The breakfast had a good variety: hot scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon or sausage, an oatmeal bar with about 10 toppings, a waffle maker, Activia yogurt, cereal, and bagels/toast. They also offer Silk Oatmilk if you are dairy free. The eggs have milk, so opt for a boiled egg. If you are dairy free you can have cereal, boiled egg, bacon, and fruit (banana, oranges).
The room and bathroom were very clean. The bed and pillows were soft and comfortable. The couch is a day bed and a trundle. So, you could sleep 6 people comfortably in the room.
The air is controlled by a thermostat. There is a nice desk which was perfect since I had to work one day. There is also a long rack by the window for luggage. That’s a nice touch and great use of space. Plus, the walk-in closet is a great space to stick luggage.
There is a nice Sprouts store next door where you can get healthy premade meals and salads. This is especially great if you are gluten free or dairy free because they have some great options. Across the interstate there are some great places to shop, like Ross and Target, if you need something. Plus, some good restaurants. We drove about 25 min to Hangar Beach which has free parking and a shower to rinse off. So, it’s a pretty good location…just not super close to the beach and there isn’t really a view. But, I...
Read moreThis hotel is brand new (less than a month old I think) so the place is mostly impeccably clean and well kept. The beds are very comfortable and the location and its proximity to both downtown, Melbourne Beach and a variety of restaurants and stores is excellent.
However, there were a couple drawbacks. While the place wasn’t close to capacity when we stayed, there were people cleaning in the room above us and you could hear EVERYTHING. In other words, the walls seem really thin. So if you’re a light sleeper and have noisy neighbors, this might not be the place for you.
Additionally, we didn’t have any hand soap in our room. We went to the front desk to ask about it and they said they’re a new hotel so they don’t have everything yet. And I get it, sometimes you run out of items. But soap is a pretty big one, and being told I need to go into the shower each time to use the body soap to wash my hands was kind of annoying. More so, the fact we weren’t told this at check in when they knew it was a problem for everyone on premises was also poor communication and customer service.
Outside of those two gripes though, we did have a nice stay. While we didn’t eat, they have a small spread for a free breakfast which was nice. Overall, it is an affordable option for many travelers that I would mildly recommend if you’re not a...
