I don’t often post reviews but I have strong feelings on the food here. I’m no stranger to Mexican food, naturally because I’m from Texas. I’ve had Mexican food in several different states that were leaps and bounds above this place so I can’t just chock it up to a regional lack of knowing what Mexican food is. I’ve had many different kinds of Mexican food of varying quality, from gas stations, food trucks, to mexico itself and high end resturaunts. From northern to southern and Eastern to western United States. And yes I like Taco Bell too.
I can’t remember the last time I had a meal so bad. And at such a high price on top of that. Everything was very bland. Think tortilla with unseasoned meat and some cheese. I don’t require it to be very seasoned or spicy, although I like it that way, I can certainly deal with underspiced and plain food but this is on another level. Beans tasted like water, salsa tasted like canned marinara sauce with jalepenos, tortillas tasted like the old prepackaged grocery store variety. I had three different enchiladas. The beef one was like sloppy joe, the chicken one was flat out nasty/tasteless, and the cheese one tasted like mozzarella, so also flavorless. Had three different sauces and while none were nasty they didn’t particularly have much taste in them either. My girlfriend had a “burrito” with big chunks of gray pork that was very unappetizing. I only had one bite and knew it was even worse than my enchiladas. She couldn’t finish it. She later made the comment that she felt like this was a place she would get food poisoning from. We paid $33 for these too entrees, that’s outrageous. I expect good quality food at that. The portions were of a decent size though in fairness.
Let me emphasize the fact that we are not picky eaters by any means. And I can’t recall ever having an experience so poor over the course of many years. You are far better off by going to Taco Bell, taco bueno, hell any fast food “Mexican” resturaunt is more authentic and tasty than this. And a third the price. I have no idea what people have been eating that have rated this place so highly, either the food has changed or they aren’t real people. I can’t imagine anyone, whether they’ve had Mexican food or not, could possibly think this place makes tasty food. I have no clue how you can run a business like this and think you are selling decent quality food. At the price you pay you could provide a really excellent dining experience.
Beyond the horrendous food the look and atmosphere was nice, if crowded and noisy, but hey it was a Friday night so can’t fault them too much. The service was pleasant, food didn’t take terribly long but wasn’t quick either. Our waitress was decent although could’ve been better, had to wait on the check for quite a while. I’ve had worse service so I can’t say it was a huge detracter. I didn’t notice that it was dirty or anything but didn’t pay much attention either. It really just comes down solely to the food.
I usually just glance at reviews and take them with a grain of salt because there’s a lot of petty people out there. But heed my warning about the food as of the date of this review. I haven’t had the whole menu, but tortillas, salsa, enchiladas, and a burrito are big proponents of the menu and if those are this bad then I highly doubt anything else is any better. I haven’t had food this bad no matter what the genre, and I eat a lot of different food!
Oh also the guac wasn’t terrible, but it was a pudding texture, very very reminiscent of something you’d get prepackaged at Walmart. Also wasn’t good, but it could be stomached. Something else I had never seen and thought was very strange was that the tortillas came out with a bowl of melted butter and a spoon. I have never seen this before and got a good laugh out of it. Not a negative I spose (although I’d prefer reg butter) but something we thought was just really odd. I did not get to try any of the cocktails, they seemed like they would be decent given the ingredients but I cant give an opinion. Someone call...

Read moreThe drinks and chips and guac are the best part of this place.
The service was like a single parent running 20 kids at a chuck e cheese birthday party. Nice person, Scattered and distracted. When we were there, it was busy and our server was running everywhere, while the over staffed hostesses were looking wide eyed and under trained. 4 girls and 1 manager at a hostess stand?
Food was not really edible. The green chili tastes like it comes from a plastic bag. Wal-Mart has way better green chili. We left most of our food on the plate. Taco Bell has sauces and tacos far beyond than this place, and we don't even eat Taco Bell.
Maybe I had too much epic Mexican food at incredible locations in my youth... Almost everywhere along the SoCal coast and in strip malls. What happened to you 3 Margaritas? You used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Colorado. This particular place at the Orchard has management issues, training issues and food issues.
Owners/GM... Are you the issue? This place is busy, what's the deal with the gross food? I'm a forest creature and I wouldn't eat this rubbish unless I was starving. Someone needs to clean house, retrain these people, and focus on making amazing food. It was like if your overconfident, underperforming high school friend is in charge of your dinner.
There's no reason why this place should be above a 2.5 star, and that's being generous. I think people are voting after drinking a margarita and eating the...
