Do NOT eat here unless you enjoy awful service. I have been to the Orchard location twice, hoping the first time was just a bad hostess/server coincidence. Nope! After the second time, it was clear this place simply has terrible service from the hostess to your sever. The second time I tried this place, it was with my wife and three kids. We arrived at about 7:30pm on a Friday and over half the restaurant was empty (apparently others know this place sucks too), and was immediately “greeted” by a young hostess to seemed to hate her job and didn’t hide it. She walked us over to a table that was right in the middle of a large group of college kids. We kindly asked if we could be sat at a booth, she replied “No those are for groups of 4 or less” rudely. I told her that’s fine, and asked to be sat at a booth on the other wall of the restaurant that was an empty six person booth, “No! that area is closed” she said very snarky. My wife then stepped in and let her know we didn’t mind sitting at a smaller booth with a chair at the end, she then snapped back “NO! that’s a fire hazard, were not allowed to do that!” What!? A fire hazard?? I’ve been eating out with my family of 5 for years this way and have never heard this. In the end we finally sat down at the table surrounded by loud college kids and directly under a blowing vent that was freezing. We then decided it was time to leave. On our way out she looked at us with a snarky look on her face, and my wife said “we decided we’d rather eat somewhere else” and she literally replied “FINE!” It was then that I also realized another couple with a child was getting up right behind us who also had just been seated and followed us out. Glad to see others not putting up with this awful service. My wife had to stop me from walking back in and requesting to speak with the manager and inform him/her they were loosing business due to this single person they hired to be the greeter of their guests. I’m glad she stopped me, but I decided that I would still write a review in hopes they would see this, and take action to improve their service. I for one do not eat out just for the food, but also for the experience and service, and am very happy to pay for both when received, but will not waste my night out or any money to be treated like that anywhere. Turn up your service game HuHot, or your half full restaurant will be short lived...
Read moreI absolutely hate leaving a bad review — but this was genuinely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I walked in and asked if there was a lunch price, and the girl at the counter just stared at me cluelessly. She actually had to flip through the menu right in front of me before telling me it was “$15-something.” So I asked if that was the same for kids — and she said, “yes.” Guess what? The menu CLEARLY says there’s a kids’ price! How do you not know your own pricing? Maybe train your staff so they at least know the basics.
Then, we sat down — and I kid you not, I hadn’t even scooted into my seat before the server was hounding me: “What do you want to drink? What do you want off the menu?” I hadn’t even picked up the menu yet! I told him, “I have no clue, I just sat down.” And his snarky response? “Have you not been here before?!” — like I was stupid for not immediately yelling “grill!” at him. Yes, I have been here, but I still want two seconds to look at the menu before you start interrogating me about drinks and food. He just stood there like I was wasting his time, so I awkwardly said, “I guess we’ll have water,” and he finally walked off. Unbelievable.
And guess what? He NEVER came back. Not once. My kids wanted wontons, I wanted something other than water — but I never got the chance. So we just went up to get our food. At least the cook was great — super friendly, actually seemed to care. But the server? Completely MIA. He only reappeared when we were DONE eating, grabbed our plates, and started to walk away so fast I had to flag him down just to ask for the check. Then I got to sit there for another seven minutes waiting for him to drop it off. And only THEN did he finally say “thank you.” Wow, what an effort.
Meanwhile, the restaurant was filthy — tables sat dirty the entire time we were there. Not one server looked happy to be there. No smiles, no “how is everything?” — nothing. The ONLY person who acted like they cared was the guy at the grill. I would’ve asked for a manager, but there didn’t seem to be one anywhere — just three miserable servers ignoring everyone.
I’ve always loved HuHot, but I will never step foot in this location again. What a...
Read moreI don't even know what to say. This was absolutely horrendous. The service was pretty lackluster, but at least they were polite.
The place is absolutely disgusting. The dirtiest restaurant I have ever seen. We should have just left. The cross contamination here is beyond belief. Too many food code violations to even name. I'm just hoping I don't get sick.
The buffet had all the raw ingredients all over the place. Shellfish in the pork, sausage in with the chicken, etc. Many of the protein options were empty. The meats are the poorest quality shaved mystery meats you have ever seen. Freezer burned "chicken" and "beef". Mussels? My Lord, please no. Some stinky fish. Fake "krab". Same for the veggies. Absolutely intermingled, and fresh on top of previous stock.
The sauce station was a disaster. Just a mess, the floor, the station, the ladles. Sauces dripped into other sauces. Unreal.
On to, the cook station. We watched the kids at the grill mixing every dish with the same spatulas, over and over, and over. Then scraping the bits of food off of the spatulas onto the side of the grill, then right back to the current food. So, essentially all the different ingredients are intermingled on the spatulas, including the food scrapings from every dish before yours for how ever many hours prior.
The extra toppings station with the hot sauce, wonton strips, etc was empty the entire time we were there.
The tables, floor, and every surface in this place is a foodborne illness hazard.
We ordered egg rolls and wontons. Both were just okay, but took almost 30mins to make it to the table. The dipping sauce was odd.
Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. It was the most filthy restaurant I have ever seen. I can't believe this place is even able to operate this way. Is there no health inspector in that county?
We drove way to far for this, and for $81 after tip we could have had a good meal somewhere else.
Sorry for the bad review, but this is over the top. Someone is going to get...
