I dined at Chuy's Tex-Mex, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. The queso dip, a Tex-Mex staple, was underwhelming. Not only was it lukewarm, but the flavor was lacking the robust, satisfying taste I had hoped for. This was a disappointing start to the meal, as the queso dip is often a highlight at Tex-Mex restaurants.
Moving on to the main course, I ordered the baja shrimp tacos, hoping for a burst of flavor and a satisfying combination of ingredients. However, the reality was quite different. The tacos were dominated by an excessive amount of cabbage, and the flavors I anticipated were simply not present. The portion size was notably small, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and wishing for more of the supposed star ingredient – the shrimp.
Adding to the disappointment, despite my explicit request for a substitute for the refried beans, they were included in my order. This oversight detracted from the overall experience, as attention to detail and customer requests are crucial elements of a positive dining experience.
Despite these disappointments, I found solace in the quality of the martini and beer. These were the highlights of the meal, providing a much-needed positive note in an otherwise lackluster dining experience.
Considering all aspects of my visit, I would rate Chuy's Tex-Mex as a 3 out of 5. While the drinks were enjoyable, the shortcomings in the food and service prevented me from fully embracing the experience. However, I am open to the possibility of returning for a redemption review in the future. Although, at this time, it seems unlikely to happen within the current year.
In conclusion, my visit to Chuy's Tex-Mex left me with mixed feelings. While the potential for a great dining experience was evident, the execution fell short in several key areas. I hope that future visits will prove to be more satisfying and reflective of the establishment's reputation for...
Read moreHow does this place have this many stars. First I'll start by saying this is Not Mexican food. Not even 'Tex Mex'. Imagine making homemade enchiladas and now imagine making them with the worst canned sauce with flavorless meat. That's what this place has to offer. The prices are ridiculous for the quality off food you get. The best thing served to us was the kids meal cheeseburger and fries and they weren't even that great. It was a patty with cheese. No veggies. No flavor. We asked for mayo and they didn't have anything but ketchup. As far as service goes Ana is such a sweetheart but we're not reviewing personalities. We waited 15 mins before our drink order was taken. We were Never provide with napkins after asking 2 times. Drink refills happened one time for 2 drinks then she never came back to refill the other 5 drinks when needed. We had a big group of kids with us ( 6 total) one ordered nachos the 5 others all ordered burgers. We got 4 burgers and the last one was brought out 30 mins after all our food was served and we had to remind Ana to get it. We were all almost done eating by time my daughters burger arrived and we had already pieced off from the other 4 burgers to feed her while we waited. And that wasn't even the worst part. Everyone that ate any of the 'Mexican' food has had gurgling tummies and horrible gas ever since. We're going on 2 days. That was the first and last time going to this restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant. I can honestly say that was the worst fake Mexican food I...
Read moreWent to Chuy’s Saturday night. I ordered chicken fajitas (my usual order). The waitress threw me off when she asked if I wanted a half order or full because the menu did not refer to them as a half or full order. I answered full not realizing she meant an order for two. On the menu it has Fajita’s for one or two. When our food came out my chicken was completely burnt on one side. It was burnt bad enough I could barely stick my fork in it. I asked for another plate of chicken that was not burnt, the waitress asked me to hold on and left the table. She came back a couple minutes kater and took the chicken back. A manager did bring it out and this plate was cooked better. However, the other four people with me were almost done eating by now and my rice and beans were cold by now. When we got our bill, they charged us $ 75.00 for the fajitas. When we spoke to our waitress we told her that I had wanted the order of fajita’s for one and that they charged us for Fajita’s for four. I was still ready to pay for the mis communication on the half/full order, but feel the waitress should refer to the food items how they are stated on the menu as to avoid the confusion and people having to pay $ 35.00 instead of around $17.00. We spoke to the waitress about the over charge. She told us “she must have not taken it off”. She did fix one of the fajita’s for two. I am glad we looked our ticket over or would have overpaid by...
