TL;DR: They charge you for everything, it's pricey, and the portions are small, and the worker who attended me there still asked for tip shamelessly after giving no effort in service.
Portions kind of small. but that is the trend, so that is sort of understandable. They do have board games, but you need to give them an ID to take them (It makes sense: so no one steals the board games). What got me was the lady at the register. Even though the food and boba is pricey for the small amount ($27 for three items), the staff still asks for a tip (I tipped 10%), and then they have audacity to ask you to pay for tap water after you order and just need a small water cup swig to wash down the excess sugar in their drinks (I did ask less sweet, but they made it still super sweet). I get this is a business, not a charity center, but that's ridiculous. Maybe that co-worker was having a bad day, or wanted to be petty with not being tipped 20% at her boba shack job, or maybe that is just how she is in general (I hope not, she made a horrible first impression). Either way, I don't plan to come here again.
PS: In case you don't want this specific person to attend you, she was young (18-21), Hispanic, with black straight medium hair, and thin built. Maybe you'll get better service if you wait for a different person...

Attending an event at Madres Brunch across the street, I needed some cooling relief on a hot July day in Downtown Whittier. I stopped being a regular at boba shops, ever since I started cooking packaged boba in my Instant Pot, but I was melting, in need of a cool off.
Phoenix oolong milk tea- Refreshing! I wanted a drink that was lactose-free & could be customized to 15% sweetness. Phoenix oolong milk tea was recommended, and I'm glad it was. Hitting the spot, just what I needed, the Phoenix oolong milk tea was creamy, cold & couldn't happen at a better time. My only gripe being how fast I demolished it.
Service was good. The staff was friendly, offering the aforementioned recommendation. The boba shop itself is quite spacious. Rectangular-shaped, there is plenty of seating. Board games, claw games, pay photo booths are some of the activities open to customers. Not feeling boba tea? Chillin' also has macarons & various snack/dessert options. Parking is via the spots out front & the nearby parking structures.
Chillin' did it's namesake. I was chilled & ready to party at the event at Madres Brunch. The Phoenix oolong milk tea quenched my thirst. I wouldn't hesitate to stop by when...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreApril 2021 - Just a heads up, the menu right outside of the place has prices that said $3.95 or something but when we bought the drinks (regular size) they were all at least $4.20 each. Not a big deal but kind of misleading.
Ordered the Matcha, Hokkaido, and Brown Sugar Milk Teas. The drinks were tasty but a bit too sweet for us.
I feel like staff could've been more accommodating when it came to changes. Less than a minute after we ordered, we asked if we could upgrade all the drinks to a large size but they said it was too late they already started on the drinks.... I get it would be too late if the cup was sealed but the drinks weren't even ready until a bit later. We were also the only customers in there at the time so I found that to be an odd response.
Overall, I'm glad I gave this place a try but unsure if I'll...
